For my little Rosie (part Pomeranian, part rat terrier), I need a small nail clipper. I've tried some that were just too large, and on the other end of the spectrum, I have a pair of tiny ones for my two parakeets, that are too small. This is why I decided to try the Boshell brand that states it is suitable for small breed dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds. It has a very comfortable rubberized grip, which is very important because if you can't hold the clipper securely, you could cut too deep accidentally. It also has a sloped indent so you have a better visual of the area that you are cutting. The first thing I noticed after the comfortable grip, was how sharp the blades are and the result is a clean cut. Some of Rosie's nails are dark and I have difficulty seeing where the quick is (the nail's nerves and vessels), so I cut the light ones first and then do the dark ones similarly. I also keep a tube of clotting cream right beside me in the rare event that I cut into the quick. On the package back, they give instructions to help, including two little drawings on how to prepare the nail for cutting and how to make the cut. This pair is just the perfect size, comfortable, and sharp.
