It really reduce the hair growth but you need to be consistent. Impressed with results. Would prefer this over salon laser treatment.

Love this at home IPL treatment machine from Braun. I bought this about 2 months ago and it's been a game changer. I can do these treatments in the comfort of my own home and not spend the $$$ for salons. I love the carrying case too so I can take it with me during my summer travels

I'm a male with light skin and brown, moderate-density hair. I started using the Braun IPL PL5157 about 3 months ago, treating once per week as directed. After 14 treatments, I've seen great results, especially under my arms where there's now just a small 2.5 x 2.5 cm (1 x 1 in) patch of finer, softer hair. I'd love that to be 100% reduction but I'm very happy with it so far. I've also been using it in other areas with coarser, more persistent hair, and while the reduction hasn't been as extreme, I've still seen noticeable improvement: slower regrowth, softer texture, and shorter hairs. I'm still seeing results improve so I'm continuing weekly. I'd recommend patience as it's not instant, but if you're consistent and follow the routine, it works. I'm surprised at how much smoother and more manageable the hair is. I was considering professional underarm laser hair reduction but decided to test run the Braun device, and I'm happy I did. For the lower initial price you trade a slightly higher time commitment but it seems to have been worth it. A couple of notes: The treatment isn't usually painful, just a warm flash/snap, and you get used to it. I only ever use the highest setting and once in a while I get a painful flash. If it happens it fades quickly. You'll need to shave before use, which I hate, but as you progress it's far less often as the hair reduction kicks in. After 12 sessions, shaving once a week is quick and there's very little irritation due to having less hair. I've had no side effects on the highest setting. No burns, discoloration, or irritation. I use 99% aloe gel right after IPL which helps. I get far more irritation and skin issues from shaving than IPL. I recommend this for guys looking to manage or reduce body hair without going for waxing or professional laser. It's worth the investment if you want something effective and private you can use at home.

I wish I could buy this device earlier…. I have light (beige) color skin and dark hair, so it is the perfect combo for IPL. After only 2 uses, I noticed that the hair stopped to grow back as fast as before. Today I am after my 5th treatment and I barely need to shave! I am very very happy!

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I call this IPL life-changing. While I'm advantaged by having the ideal skin/hair color combination, I had a near immediate reduction in hair growth, saving me hours of time every week. This was a replacement for a much older IPL from a different manufacturer. I figured that the technology must have improved. It has, and I have no regrets about this purchase.

I have been a furball most of my life. For clarity, I am an olive-skinned Hispanic with dark, thick, stubborn hair. While I do not have curly hair, it is very wavy and curly in some places. Anyway, I started out shaving like we all do in adolescence. Then in my late teens, went into waxing of ALL kinds. In my 20's I invested in a Braun Silk-epil. Then later I tried laser. All these things are money and time consuming. Now, I STILL use my second Braun silk-epil (I accidentally killed my first one in Australia because of the voltage variance) anyway, now I just epilate and use this IPL ALL over and can honestly tell you I hardly have growth on my chin, armpits, calves or arms. I am trying to be diligent with the usage before summer time but of course, you have to pace yourself when using IPL. I have only been using this for 2 months and the difference is already evident. I know these devices are not cheap but neither is going to the salon every week or month. This process is so quick, so effective and so painless (to me anyway). I recommend any one as furry as me give this a shot. You can start putting money away for this device now and have it just in time for summer.

Ordered this item and it came used - complete with someone else's stubble on it. I returned it for a replacement and now I have another USED one complete with stubble and fingerprints! Unfortunately, I cannot comment on if the product works because I haven't used it yet and ordered it almost a month ago. I did not pay for a USED product - I paid for a NEW product. Returning again....

Like other reviewers mentioned, the product is USED. It might last a lifetime for a single person but you don't know if somebody purchased, used in a business for some weeks and returned. Buying stuff like this makes me lose faith in purchasing online.

I did laser hair removal at a spa and purchased this device just to maintain. It takes multiple attempts to get the flash to happen even when placed properly. The device has barely been used and the flash actually works only 1 out of 5 attempts even when the light says it's properly placed on my skin. It's out of warranty and never worked properly and didn't maintain my hair removal at all. This just wasn't worth the cost for me since it doesn't work properly.
