Second purchase after losing the first one. (Kaiser) says ear temporal is not accurate and had to do theres with one under my sons arm pit after he wouldnt sit still they had to use the bottom the ear one was the same tempature as theres! ive tested it on me vs a mouth thermometer and same result. My son gets Febrile seizures i use this and trust it for years easy to also check when he is asleep. the cost is higher than i would like but regardless i would purchase again for accuracy. i learned my lesson when i lost the first on and purchased the forehead one it did not catch my sons fever over 101.0 so i paid the extra money worth it.
After using digital oral thermometers for decades, we found that they vary quite a bit in accuracy. This thermometer was recommended by our son who is a medical assistant. These are used by him for his family and by the clinic he works in. Yes, it's pricey, but we should never have to buy another one.
like how it shows different colors depending on if you have a low or high fever to take away the guessing or having to look up what temperature is considered a fever
I have a 5-year-old daughter who is in public school in kindergarten and, well, the sickness is always rampant. Flu, Covid, strep, RSV, you name it, it's going around. So I wanted a good quality thermometer to have to use for when she's sick. I also wanted one that seemed as if it would last a long time as I'm sure we'll need it in 1st grade too and so on so forth. I love this thermometer! I love that it has a backlight, so it makes checking her temp in the dark easy, I don't have to turn on lights to read the temp and wake her up. The backlight also changes colors between blue for good, yellow for low grade, and red for high, which is also good because I can tell just by the color what to expect. It has a pre-warmed tip so it's comfortable for her. I also love the fact that it comes with the little case to keep it in. And it can even be used on my 5-month-old niece because it has the function where you can change between 0-3 months, 3-36 months, and 36 months. It also stores the last 9 temperature readings, so you can keep up with how the temperature is changing/responding to meds. It's also very sturdy and feels like great quality, it doesn't feel cheap. Batteries were also included which is a plus, especially for how expensive it is to begin with. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this thermometer and will buy this brand again should this one ever break or stop working. If you have a little or littles like I do in public school, then you know a thermometer is a necessity, and this one is definitely worth the money.
My only complaint with this thermometer is that you have to select the age range every single time you turn it on and the previous temp is displayed for way too long. I use this on my animals so I am not always poking their bottoms and this thing takes like 15 to 20 seconds to start up and get the age selected before I can finally use it. It's just a slight inconvenience honestly, but it's still a little frustrating when I am trying to use it quickly.
I ordered this thermometer for a gift for a very special friend. The actual package arrived torn and crumpled.
This thermometer does not take accurate temperatures, often reading at least 2°high. When you are dealing with sick kids, the last thing you want to do is calculate their temperature. I usually run a body temp of 97°. This was constantly showing my body temp was 99°. I came down with an illness, recovered and was feeling fine though my temperature reading kept coming back slightly feverish. I had to go to work but did not want to show with a fever. After the fourth or fifth time taking my reading that day and yelling why I still had a fever, my daughter kindly informed me that it ran high. I took her temp and it showed she had a slight fever even though she was completely healthy. We ended up getting an inexpensive under the tongue thermometer and it gives an accurate reading better than this expensive piece of junk.
It gave inconsistent readings and I never felt like I could trust it, which defeats the whole point. Especially with kids, you need something reliable and this just was not. Sometimes it read normal, then seconds later something completely different. Way too frustrating when you are trying to figure out if someone actually has a fever. For the price, I expected way better. I would not buy this again.
It had obviously been used!!!! It was also obviously not inspected when it was returned. I contacted customer support ASAP. They initiated me a full refund for it, and I don't even have to return it. I appreciate their customer support 100% . I at least just wanted a partial refund, but instead they gave me a full refund . I appreciate support so much . I think it was completely disgusting that the Walmart people took the return from the previous person and didn't dispose of it as it goes in our ears . And at that they didn't even inspect it ! The thermometer had hair in it…. I wouldn't have mind returning it, but it would've just gone through the same cycle!!!! so glad I contacted support! Hopefully they will have more of a safer return process, especially for thermometers in the store ! But support was amazing and understanding!!!
Item looks used. Braun box was opened and they glued the inside box that contained the thermometer.
