Keep it clean!
The "Briggs and Stratton 2-1/4" Height Standard Oil Filter" is a perfect OEM replacement, high quality, and great value. I replace them several times a season along with oil, because the small air-cooled engines work terribly hard and the it's the best way to extend engine life along with 91 octane gasoline to assist the engine run cooler. I never run ethanol added fuel for reasons you are probably well aware of. I don't enjoy replacing or rebuilding carburetors.
