Ok, I tried a substitute equivalent and found out that Brother ink is well worth it. I will definitely recommend it.

The 4-pack that I got when I moved to this town required two cleanings (regular and deep) to get the cartridges to write without streaks or gaps. Of course, a cleaning uses up ink and a deep cleaning uses even more, so there wasn't much left by the time I was done. I'm ordering a genuine Brother brand XL black cartridge because if none of the cartridges are genuine the printer seems to intentionally streak and leave gaps and complain every few minutes. Black gets used more than any other color, so it's wothwhile to make sure it's the one that's genuine.

i hate that i only need 1 color but it's cheaper to buy the whole pack of all the colors. why can't i just purchase 1 color for 1/4 the price?

They did finally work, but my printer didn't accept them at first. I will have to stick with the Brother brand because it was such a “fight” to get the printer computer to override its default. I had black ink leaked all over me at one point.

ordered this item a week ago and was to be shipped the next day. Have not received it yet. 8 days late and counting.

I ordered wrong ink cartridges. not able to return because of my health issues. So I guess I'm stuck with them. I did order correct ones.

Package was opened and not what box said. Was not xl black ink for my printer and certainly not worth the 38$ I paid for it.
