Bulldog Hardware Self Locking, Heavy Duty Gate Latch, Black

My gate had the similar assembly, but the long male shaped piece was broken. This particular one is longer than the average and made installation much easier. The screws were easy to install, and I would gladly buy this again. It looks nice and sturdy.

It seems like a sturdy latch. I used some longer screws. Not sure if it's my gate or my install, but our little less than 20 lb dog got the latch to open by jumping or leaning on the gate. We tie the leash around the cate to give it a second security.

I made a doggy gate for my dog and this latch did the trick! It works great and catches quick!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the self locking, Bulldog Heavy Duty Gate Latch as a replacement for one that was used on our gate. The one we were using had bent, and the paint was off-due to a shift in the wood gate during winter. This heavy duty one is able to withstand more use and abuse-as it gets slammed very often. Self locking is nice because usually my hands are full with items, and I need it shut right behind me before my grandson escapes!

Good if you don't have livestock that can push up against a gate and bend the arm piece. It bends easy and breaks when you try to straighten it back up. Heavy winds will also keep knocking the gate back and forth bending the arm. Or if you have people that just like to slam a swinging gate shut. Works great for light duties.
