I have several of these, along with the regular-sized Burpee seed starting pods, and they've all worked well. I prefer the XL size because it gives the seedlings more room to grow before I have to disturb the roots by transplanting. My only wish is that they came with a humidity dome, which would make them even better for starting seeds.
I've had cheap, thin plastic seed starters which claim to be reusable, but the plastic breaks after rejecting the seedling. THIS IS NOT THAT! The seed pods are generously sized, and the silicone means it really is reusable and washable! I was so happy with it that I bought several more. The only drawback is this does not have a lid to keep it warm and humid during germination, so take that into account when considering.
This burpee cucumber seed tray is great! I received the tray, filled with planting soil, put two seeds in each cell. In less than one week, I had little plants peeping through the soil. Two weeks and my plants are losing their baby leaves and the leaves now growing look like cucumber plants. Can't wait to get these little guys in the ground and expect that will be at least 2 weeks from now. I just had to remember to keep water in the tray! This is a great product and easy to work with.
Second year using these! Love them! The wider size trays keep my seedlings healthy and happier than the smaller blue size. The best part is they are eco friendly and I can use them year after year! Currently have 4 and planning to get more next year. I've been able to start my garden from seeds with success.
I purchased this seed starting tray to give to my brother for Christmas. I used one last growing season and loved the results. I'm looking forward to using it again this coming spring. It certainly worked well for me.
I was watching so many beginner gardening videos and finally settled on these for their ease of use when transplanting since they have silicone bottoms. Love that they are reusable. This 16XL seed tray fit what pepper seeds I wanted but I will be buying the other Burpee trays as well. It did come with a small chart to keep track of what you planted and where but it's only 2 sections. I wish it came with a dome to help with humidity while they sprout but for the price, I cannot complain with what I got! Easy to water, I poured 1/4 of a cup in the tray and let the roots drink. Happy growing everyone!
This is what I use to start my larger plants. It has been wonderful
They break easily, that said they are so easy to use that even though they break easily they are better than any of the other pop-up reusable starters I've ever owned. Just be careful with them, otherwise they're awesome!
they didnt give me that one the gave me a smaller on as a substitute
Out of 16 seeds that I started, only 2 grew. I'm not very impressed with the seeds!
