Canon - EOS R7 Mirrorless Camera (Body Only) - Black

Got the camera and a couple of lenses, lot's to learn after years of just using simple cameras and IPhones. Time will tell if I can get the wildlife photos that I purchased the camera for. So far the camera and lenses are living up to expectations.

Love the R7. Coming from a 7D Mark II I can certainly appreciate the new technology. The AF System is incredible. It feels like cheating! The body feels good in my hands, very light. Image quality with EF lenses and adaptor is really good. I can imagine with RF lenses! I only wish a battery grip could be added, although I haven't seen any issues with battery draining too fast yet. All in all, Canon did a great job on this one! I see a second R7 body in my future. ;-)

I moved from an EOS 80D to the EOS R7. At first it was a bit difficult because of the difference in the control layout. As time goes on I have become more accustomed to the new layout and becoming more proficient in obtaining the outcomes I am seeking. Save for the control orientation, the camera performs beyond my expectations. Quick focus, even with the adapter and my EF lenses. I look forward to becoming more competent with the camera taking many more pictures. Very pleased with my purchase.

Canon EOS R7 is a great all around camera, especially if you are making the move from APS-C SLR to mirrorless. I've used an 80D for several years shooting sports, theatre performances, events, portraits, landscape and wildlife. It does fine in low light if paired with a f-2.8 lens. The 1.6x crop gave me the reach I wanted to capture that play across the field, and great for micros. The high pixel count image size from the R7 allows for cropping and still keep significant image details. The grip is a little thick for me because I have small hands. The back wheel is located near the top, which might be a more 'natural' feel for some people; it's a little for me to get used to since all my previous %23%23D series cameras had the back wheel closer to the bottom.

Autofocus slow on quick shot, doesn't focus right-a-way.

Bought this camera to transition into mirrorless for my wildlife photography, and wasn't ready to spend money for full frame R5. As a long time 5D IV and 1D IV shooter I have struggled to adapt to the R7's compact size and layout of the dials for exposure settings, and back button focusing. This camera just isn't comfortable in my hand (yet). I have also had some focus hunting issues when using the adapter for non RF lenses. Hoping I find the perfect niche for this R7 body and the lens match that will settle my ‘first impressions' frustration.

This review is not about the Canon R7 or the third-party seller, Red Tag Camera. This review is on the shopping experience at Walmart.com. Walmart.com had several R7 camera bodies for varying prices. Some of the lower price models clearly stated you were purchasing a “international” model. In my case the unit I ordered was not describe as international. I received the unit within five days, packaging was very good. The camera box had previously been opened but it looked like all the accessories and documentation was included. It was not until I tried to register with Canon for warranty and it was flagged as unverifiable that I was suspicious. I know Canon products are reliable and most do not need warranty service, but I like the peace of mind of having a local (USA) service provider in case I am one of the few. So, buyer beware, if the price is lower than all reputable shops then more than likely it is an import or gray market model. If you are ok with that then great, I am not. I returned this unit the same day it was delivered and will not purchase from Walmart.com in the future. One other thing, if you do return to Walmart for refund you will wait seven to ten days for it to be processed and refund issued. I give this a one-star review for Walmart's poor product description.
