I was a little worried about other reviews which indicated the dumbbells had an odor. Although they do have a rubber smell to them, it is not significant or very noticeable. They weights are great and easy to interchange with different plates. Sometimes the stopper comes a little loose, but it is easy to tighten so the weights don't come off.
Where else can you get 40lbs of weights for $25? Not that I could find on Amazon. I read all the reviews here and was somewhat skeptical but ordered anyway in view of the easy return policy. They were received in fine shape work just as you would expect from any dumbbell set. The collars tighten against the hard rubber covering on the handles. They eventually work loose but no sooner than any other dumbbells that I have ever owned. When they loosen you re-tighten them. Each bar is 14" long and made of steel and plates are cast iron as stated. Heck of a deal. PS: I am not affiliated with Cap in any way- totally unbiased opinion.
What do I think of this product??? I think its one of the best bargains I've ever purchased!!! The clerk nearly died bringing them out 2 me which is a testimate that they are 40 lbs of Solid Iron, the size and feel of them are perfect 2 work out with, and they look 2 be more expensive than the asking price, they are threaded with spinning collars that fit firmly into place, ( something I don't think the ad even mentions ) overall a high Quality Product, very satisfied with the purchase.
The dumbells are as I expected.
These things adjust very easily and stay together well. I would purchase these on sale again, for an additional set as these do fit together.
The weights help with my every day workout great for me. I love them. I'm 60 and my daughter has me working out every day.
These were purchased for my son who is 15 and was getting into lifting weights. These are easy to adjust and just the right weight. They have worked really great for my family.
Got these to start a bodybuilding regimen. The screw-on caps are much more more useful than the clamps many sets come with. The only reason I didn't give these a five star rating was the fact that the weights are designed to take the bar weight into consideration. This makes it hard to get standard weight increments. For example, I wanted to start training with 10 pound weights, but the handle weighs 3 lbs, while the weights come in 2.5 and 6 lb increments. This means the only evenly distributed weights you can achieve are 8 lbs, 15lbs, and 20 lbs. If you make your weights lopsided, you can achieve 5.5 lbs, 9 lbs, 11.5 lbs, 14 lbs, and 17.5 lbs. As shown, you can't achieve 10 lbs with any combination, so if you want to start there, you're gonna have to go higher or lower. It's not a huge issue, just a little irritating for beginners. The quality is solid, the handle has a nice grip, the crews don't feel cheap or loose when tightened, even with all the weights on, there's room for more weights should you decide to get some more. At $30, it's a better deal than you'll find in any store (including walmart), and it's cheaper than any online sites I've found.
heavy item so tore up during shipping. missing one spin lock.
If I could give this 0 stars, I would. I ordered these weights online and when the package arrived, the box was badly damaged and covered in layers of nasty tape with dirt and stuff stuck all over it. One of the screws that holds the dumbbell plates onto the bar was missing completely. I found two screws taped to the box for one side, but only one for the other dumbbell, so the set is unusable. Keep in mind, this package is supposed to have support straps to keep everything secure, yet it still arrived falling apart. I contacted customer support and was told the only option was to return it. Why would I want to carry a damaged 40-pound box back to the store because Walmart failed to package it correctly? I also asked for the manufacturer's contact information and was told they “don't have anything” and that I would just have to return it for a refund. It took almost 20 minutes just to be told that. Horrible customer service. This was my first order using Walmart online, and it will definitely be my last.
