This gate does not have the small cat gate like the picture shows but we didn't need it anyway so it's perfect for us. We use it to keep the dogs on our porch. It has held up well in the weather.

We have a tiny dog that we keep in the kitchen/dining room area when we are gone. Before we used a baby gate that I bought when my son was a toddler. It worked, but we constantly had to undo it to get in and out of the kitchen. After one too many times of pinching myself with the tension adjuster of the other gate I started looking for a new one. That's when I found the L'il Tuffy gate, it's been amazing!! It took me all of 5 minutes to take it out of the box and set it up. No more pinching myself with the tension adjuster because we can step over the gate without tripping or giving it a second thought, and we really love the little door inside the gate that we can open or close for our dog's convenience. And the little rubber feet on the sides of the gate keep from marring the paint on the walls. The only person in the house that doesn't like the new gate is our Maine Coon, Simba. Simba used to sit on the top of the old gate to get a higher vantage point to taunt the dog... now he's within reach of the dog.

This little gate works perfectly! We did have to add some little felt pads (the kind under furniture) to secure the gate against the wall - we have it fully extended. We also put one under the "leg" of the gate to protect the wood floor. It is just what we needed!

I previously had one of those wooden gates that are so difficult to work with. The dog, as small as he is, managed to somehow jump or climb over it. This new gate, being metal is not chewable and is also much higher that the previous gate. Very simple to set up and use. Very happy with it.

I put this gate at the bottom of our stairs, to deal with the issue we've had of him going upstairs and doing messes on the carpet. We tried an expandable wood gate, but our smart dachshund figured out a way to open it, much to our surprise. It was a pain because we had to consistently open and close the gate. This gate is good because we have it set up right on the first step, and are able to easily step over it. It is hard to find a gate less than 24" in height, and being a petite person, it makes it challenging. This gate fits the bill. I like how you can secure the gate easily, but then loosen the fit easily if we want to allow our dog upstairs. This gate does the trick.

Ordered this model because of its height. Most gates are 24"; my roommate and I kept tripping over the gate each time we wanted to enter the room. The one we replaced was made of wood and rather flimsy. The Carlson gate is super sturdy, extremely simple to install and/or remove and, most of all, short enough to step over without tripping! Product highly recommended.

This gate is the nicest idea and is well made. I had NO Problems with fitting it in the doorway. Other persons who said it did not fit properly really did not follow the directions! You place the gate in the doorway and extend it with both hands to get it to the closest fit.....then push down the pin set into the closest hole on the bar.....then slide over the 'turning piece' fully to the mid-point of the gate.....then begin to turn the 'turning piece', by tightening towards the center of the gate until its tightly firm.....and you are done. If you do not bring the 'turning piece' midpoint to the center of the gate's bar and tighten it from there, you will lose the correct pressure points to keep this gate in place. It will fit ANY doorway width, if you just follow the directions. Don't assume you know what you are doing without reading the directions carefully. Once you learn the fitting technique, you are good to go. So READ the directions! I love this gate, and it's easy for me to step over. It's just perfect!

We are using this for our bathroom door which is 24" wide. Piper is going to be an adult cat soon and is skinny. She JUST fits through the door. Just something to think about when ordering. Other than that it's great. High enough so our dog Rolo can't get in.

I had to adapt this for my needs (aka tear off a little plastic tab included on the thing with a screwdriver) so that it would fit in the doorway I needed it for, but now it's working great. I have it blocking off our dog from a bathroom I'm using as a litter room for our 2 cats, and the little door on it has made life really easy. We're in a rented home and I didn't want to deal with putting in a kitty door in the bathroom door, or going through the ordeal of buying another door to put on there with the kitty door installed on that one. Doors are cumbersome, this lightweight gate with built in kitty door was the perfect solution. Overall very glad I purchased. Price was very reasonable.
