Starts easy and is very quiet, easy to maintain. I have owned the Champion for 1 month total and it was purchased when faced a series of power outages at my home. New out of the box I had to run it 14 hours straight. I changed oil (very easy to do) and have needed it for an additional 90 hours and during that time had no problems. My oldest son has 2 Champions of the same model he uses for RV/champing they both have many thousands of hours on them with no problems . This convinced me to purchase a Champion generator and am very glad I did.
After living through the nightmare of buying 3 defective Inverter Generators, I finally realized that if you want a quality Inverter Generator, you have to buy a Honda, Yamaha or Champion. I choose the Champion Power Equipment 2500 and it is Perfect! The generators I had to return were two A-iPower 2000 Watt Portable Inverter Generators that leaked oil from the engine cases and was sold by by Jeg's Automotive, ( At first Jeg's told me to contact China for a refund!), the third generator was a Quipall 3000i Inverter Generator which had the internal parts inside come loose before arriving her and the parts were flopping around inside the case!
I am very impressed with this generator. Quiet and easy to start. When a load is detected it speeds up immediately. And one third the price of a similar size Honda. Great bargain.
This model uses the same engine as the 2000 watt model and uses the same amount of fuel. With a smaller engine than most 2000 watt generators, Champion has created the most efficient and cheapest operating generator on the market.
Model #200950 Champion's 2500-watt inverter generator is one of the lightest in the industry, making portable power easier than ever. I literally carry this product in my trucks tool box as it is compact, reliable, and provide jobsite power on demand when needed. If you are looking for a generator Champion makes the best ones!
After an extensive search I decided to purchase this inverter generator for our non electric camping trip to go along with the new little camper we have and took out for the first time. My husband and I were at a park where there are generator hours in which to run the generator. So we ran the generator for two hours in the morning and were allowed 4 hours in the evening if needed. We charged our batteries, used a coffee pot(700) watts, water pump, charged phones, ran lights, and more. It was perfect as long as you count watts and understand peak watts/running watts and so it came down to running one thing at a time. We have solar but due to it being cloudy and rainy it became useless until the sun came out which wasn't often. This generator worked flawlessly as long as you follow directions. I may purchase another one of these generators to pair them and have more power to be able to run more than one item at a time. When I do purchase another generator and they work well together, I will give this product a five star review. So far no complaints!
Followed break in procedure. Unit smoked a lot and continued to smoke after first several oil changes. Finally took system off eco mode and let it run wide open through two tanks of gas.(kinda hoping it would quit smoking or break) Once finished changed the oil again 4th time at this point and was clean. Turned unit back on and it had quit smoking and tan perfectly. Estimating 100 hours now and still now problems.
Just do your research before purchasing. And if you purchase these, is should be from a Rural King. Rural King was the only saving grace for me with this purchase. Dealing with Champion is a nightmare, and nobody that you get on the phone can do anything except read a script.
Before I go on I’ll say that I have 3 Champion generators and a Champion log splitter. I’ve been a customer of Champion for several years and have relied on their products. This generator was my third one as I just needed a small one to take with me on camping trips. The generator ran flawlessly from June of 2022 (when I purchased it) to October of 2022 when it quit. It has about 1050 hours on it as I used it a lot. Now there is no compression when you pull the start cord. Champion advertises that their support is available 24/7 and I reached out to them to get some help. After being on hold for a couple of hours, I spoke to a woman who wouldn’t even listen to the issues I was having with the unit. She only wanted to email me some maintenance videos to follow and try to get it running. I gave her my email address but the videos never came to me. The next day, I used their website to send a message to product support and I explained my problem, filled in the model and serial number and submitted it but I got no response. The next day I called them again and their recording said I could leave a callback number so I did. It took them about 4 hours to call back but I had already given up on them and wasn’t at home any longer. I made sure he had my correct email address and he told me he would email me some information but it never came either. That night, I submitted another support request on their website and I finally got a response which only asked for a copy of the sales receipt from Walmart. I sent a copy of the receipt right away but I never heard anything else from them. I waited 2 days to call again but after 2 hours and a burning hot phone, I gave up. Im at my wits end now and I’d return this to Walmart for a refund but Walmart doesn’t take power equipment back after 90 days. Im afraid I now have a $600 boat anchor that looks like a generator.
1 - Product power delivery was very erratic resulting in stress on sensative electronics. 2 - after approximately 20 hours use product is leaking oil.
