This grill heats up quickly and cooks evenly. There is no flame up just as advertised. It appears to be saving propane due to its smaller size compared to my previous Charbroil grill. Food is completely cooked in much less time compared to old grill. Due to the way the grate was designed, not much droppings fall thru which should make it easier to maintain. The only negative impact is that the burnt on stuff can't be brushed through the grates. I use the supplied fork type cleaning spade which is a little hard to scrape the debris off to get it out of the cooking surface.
I am a 70 year old female and have found the assembly, so far, to be easy. Once I get help lifting the top, the rest should be a breeze. I also appreciate the trim size and fold out trays. Looking forward to experimenting with grilling vegetables and, of course, steaks.
I had to replace an old gas grill that took up way too much space. I researched various brands and the Char=broil Tru-Infrared was perfect. I was thrilled that Walmart in Riverhead had it in-stock and assembled, and I was able to pick it up that day. I have always been nervous about gas grills, but this one is very easy to use, and even the grill experts in my family thought it was great. The porcelain grates are a somewhat more difficult to clean than is described, but if I soak them in the sink for a few hours and scrub them with a non-scratching grill brush, they are ok. I am very happy with this purchase.
The wife and I decided to go smaller since the children have all gone but one. We were concerned about the cooking area but made the move anyway. First as we assembled it, we could see it was not made cheap and all the parts were quality. Took us about 40 minutes to complete. Was not sure how the inferred technology worked but it seems to use more smoke that flame to cook. The first hamburgers we made were superb and the flavor was excellent. There was plenty of room to cook seven good size burgers and a four hot dogs. If you are looking for a small grill with great cooking ability, this is the one! Love the ceramic cooking grates!
Love this little grill! Has more room than expected. The flavor is absolutely amazing!! Cooks food fast - 2X that of normal gas grill. Cooks evenly. I am a women and put this together on my own. My husband just raves about the flavor of burgers coming off this grill. INFARED is the only way to go! It smokes more than a normal gas grill, which is mentioned so watch the open windows. Shipping was quick and free. No complaints.
Didn't quite understand what infrared meant but I needed a grill on wheels. Love this grill! It heats up fast and cooks so much faster. Comes with a hand book of "how to" and recipes.
Purchase was simple & straight-forward. Item was ready in about 4 hours. Two strong guys loaded it for me. Assembly was fairly easy if you followed the pictures. I put 2 things on backwards at first but that was my error. It cooks WONDERFUL! My son & his family were in from Florida over the weekend and we had 22 people here & the grill performed flawlessly! GREAT JOB, Char-Broil.
The grill is a good one easy to assemble. The one negative is the description in the manual says all infrared grills have two heat gauges one for each burner. Unless I read it wrong this to me is a false description as this one only has one. I hope this was not to miss lead anyone, but will contact the company about it. This is not a negative about Walmart.
Easy to assemble and no set-up issues what-so-ever. Lights without issue and only surprise is that my old steel scrub brush is not recommended yet grill surface still needs to be cleaned. Somehow suggested nylon brush doesn't seem to be a good answer so still looking. Also no convenient place to hang cooking forks, tongs and flipper. I made a hooked wire handle to attach to the front door slot but believe there should be a more obvious way besides stacking on floor inside the door beside the gas tank. Tried that and when the door opens, stuff falls out. Now stuff is dangling from the side shelves but they are supposed to be lowered so where to put the cooking accessories? The old Char-Broil had handy built-in hooks in side shelves.
Everything is great about this grill except the grates. After just one use, the porcelain all pealed up and exposed rough cast iron looking metal that everything sticks to. Char-Broil told me not to use till replacements came. I followed all the "new" instructions on how to season the grates and how to safely clean them only to have the same thing occur by the the third use. After ready other comments at the Char-broil web site I now see that everyone has had this issue (really everyone) and the only response is "we value your business did you open a claim?". Very poor, it looks like a 5 year old grill surface after just a use or two. The other thing to know is that this grill is not Infrared. It is what Char-Broil calls "TRU-Infrared". Notice the Tru does not have an "E". The grates (the problem) just look like infrared grates but it is not. Bummed.
