This is a great water filter. I used to use the blue one, which you can get anywhere, and it worked fine, but in the summer, when we are at the campground in our RV, we noticed a sulfur smell in our water, so, reading up on what filter would take care of it, the Clear20 RV and Marine filter came up. We tried it, and it does work. It is more expensive but worth it if you have an odor in your water.
These are a size for size replacement for the cheaper blue filter, but they do need the Clearo2 pre-filter to make them more practical. The blue filters are 5-6 micron filters and take out larger particles, along with some carbon filtering. These green ones filter at 1 micron and substantially improve the carbon filtering. Without the 5-6 micron pre-filter they risk clogging too easily. I just stayed at an RV park that uses well water and the prefilter caught a significant amount of brown sludge, but it is easily back-flushed. This filter actually clogged too and had a very fine silt like sludge on it. I'm happy it clogged because it showed it was working. I normally replace filters every 3 months and the blue ones have never shown signs of blocking or having captured anything. I took my saw to the blocked one and having looked inside I can tell you the carbon filter in there is a very significant and really does filter out fine material.
This is by far the best water filter I have ever had. It eliminates all discoloration and smells from my home's well water, making the water sparkling clear. My water has heavy iron, causing strong discoloration. I attach it to my laundry tub faucet because it doesn't fit any other, and fill up water jugs. I use it strictly for drinking (no showers, laundry, etc) so it lasts a good 5 months. Even at the end of 5 months, the water is still clear. I tried another less expensive filter that I literally had to remove the same day because the water was still discolored. This filter is more expensive, but totally worth it because I no longer need to buy bottled water. I buy the filters two at a time so I always have an extra.
This filter is great at filtering down to 1 micron. When you are camping (RV) you never know what the water supply is going to be. This filter takes the worry out of the unknown.
so easy to install. takes no time at all. supports good water pressure. no smells or weird tastes with it. will never do without this!
The water from this filter tastes every bit as good as the blue filters, if not better. There are no residual aftertastes and no aromas for those with a sensitive nose.
Filter definitely works better than others. Water smells and taste clean. If you value cleaner water from whatever source, you owe it to yourself to try this filter. Good luck and god bless!!!!
I used a DPD No. 4 test tablet to check tap water quality passing through this new filter. The water sample turned bright pink as soon as it hit the glass indicating a significant amount of chlorine remained in the water after having not been filtered out. Not recommended.
I am using it for my RV and if you have a second hose it is easy enough to install. However, it would not let enough water through it to be able to take a shower. It was barely enough pressure to wash dishes or flush the toilet. For me it is worthless and unusable
It didnt work. When i first put it on barely a trickle of water came out of it. It also had a sediment pre filter attached ahead of it.
