We've wanted to renovate our bathtub and shower since we moved in. Finally bit the bullet and did it and it didn't disappoint . Took two cans because the bathtub wouldn't cover as well and took four coats. It's day two after we've finished and the smell is still awful and strong but it looks so good!
If you do it right it will turn out great. This is my second time using this product on my shower and it really held up for several years. The first time I did not prep well and even with bad prep it lasted but I got the urge to redo it 5 years later and I'm glad I did. I wasn't able to use it within a day like it says to do once you mix the items. I got busy with unexpected stuff but went back to it the next day and the solution was harder to work with for sure/ my fault not theirs. But I made it work. It actually gave it some texture since it started clumping up but I actually appreciate that for a shower floor so there's better grip , so it worked out nice. I did a smoothing sanding of it when I was done and it evened it out nicely. This stuff dries so hard- like a nice shellac and creates a nice sturdy finish that handles wear and tear, hot water, and frequent water exposure beautifully. If you need to “put lipstick on a pig” and just make your shower look nicer rather than redoing your whole bathroom- this truly is the way. I'm not handy at all but I have adhd and get impulsive with stuff like this and it worked out beautifully for me. It's a nice way to spruce up your bathroom on a budget. I may try my sinks next as I believe it can be used on them as well. Overall great product but get an aspirator mask and goggles because this stuff stinks.
Used (white) on 1950s baby blue tub/sink. Do your prep work and prepare to do 3 coatings. It's gunna stink strongly so ventilate and mask up. This product is only as good as your dedication to prep and detail is. Been 6 mos and I am pleased to have upcycled old sink/tub and saved $$ on dyi. I also am not a perfectionist and ok with a couple drip marks that only I can see when navel deep in bubbles.
i wish there were more colors to choose from. i used this product to cover tile i has put on the shower walls that I did not like. It covered it very well and looks great.
Not sure what i did wrong but the final texture is a bit gritty, bumpy. Overall appearance is much better and the coverage was great. Definitely takes two coats but was able to accomplish that with one box. Make sure and tape off all faucets and surrounding areas and you would be wise to lay down or tape some contractor paper to the floor as well.
I used this refinishing kit before on a bathtub and had an excellent experience so I bought it again for a shower project. Unfortunately this time the product was completely different. The coating was extremely thin/watery, difficult to work with on vertical surfaces, and had very poor coverage compared to my first experience. It also started lifting/peeling while applying even though the surface was properly cleaned and prepped just like last time. I ended up buying two kits because the first coat covered so poorly. For the price I expected more consistency between batches. Very disappointed because my first experience with this product went flawlessly but the second and third time were not good.
After arguing with my husband for weeks over whether or not this was worth the time and effort, I should have listened to him and let him retile our bathroom. I have a 1950s blue tub and tile with sailboats all over it that needed to be covered. We are DIYer's all day long, and have tackled just about every project, but this one I wouldn't recommend... especially if you actually care whether the finished product looks halfway decent. I prepped for 4 days and was diligent going so far as to have a magnifying glass in all those tight areas where there could be leftover silicone. I followed the instructions to the letter, and was excited to start the project finally. The product dries so incredibly fast that to get an even, smooth coat you have to move very, very quickly. The product doesn't behave like paint and is much thinner, so you can't load the roller with as much as you would with paint. I went back with a fine paintbrush to try to get areas that I had missed but even a slight overlap was very visible on the first coat. I just completed the second coat and realized that it's going to need a third and I am not prepared for a third coat. Not to mention I got the most expensive foam rollers and destroyed both of them- somehow they managed to rip apart while I was in the rolling process. I have never been more frustrated with a project in my life! The marketing on this product is absolutely misleading making you think that this is an easy one hour project. While I knew better going in, I have a hard time believing that anybody would be okay with the results of this product. Oh and cleanup was a nightmare. Buyer beware!
I just opened the box %26 the paint wasted out in the box. I poured application A into B %26 it is water no thickness at all.
The vapor was horrific, and the coverage was worse! Several open windows and fans were not enough to ventilate the smell and vapors. I requested and received a refund from the manufacturer.
i've tried using this product. I've bought it four times each time it doesn't come out well it doesn't cover the entire area or the shower. It just not good. I'm gonna try a different product now.
