It extends good distance and then you don't need to worry about finding sticks. These are good for light weight items mostly like marshmallows and maybe one hotdog.

You can fit multiple marshmallows on the fork. I like these for my kids because they extend longer to help keep them distant from the fire from 20 to 30 inches. They are also chromed wire making it easy to clean.
