polly lockes suck screwed them up

I didn't actually use this chain tool. When I received it, it looked so cheap and flimsy that I put it right back in the box and decided to return it.

An actual piece of garbage, I don’t write reviews ever but this needs to be written. My chain broke, I tried fixing it with this, and all it did was waste 3 hours of my time, 8$ of my money, and now I’m livid. Don’t buy, it won’t work.

never received said item

Was delivered in closed shipping package, but the box inside holding the kit, was opened and missing the links for the chain.

What you don't pay for in price, you pay in lack of usability. While tightening the press pin it wonders around requiring constant re-centering on the chain pin. Also, the handle rubber ends keep falling off causing the handle to fall out of the shaft. Tip: oil the screw so it does less binding as you turn it. It will get the job done if you only need it for 1 or 2 chains, but don't count on it for a long term addition to your toolbox.

The instructions included with this kit are very brief and assume some knowledge of bike chain repair. If this is your first time repairing a bike chain you might need to watch an instructional video, but it depends on your knowledge of the terminology. It gives instructions for 1/2" x 3/32" and 1/2" x 1/8" chains, though the repair pieces are not included. This is just the tool (and the alcohol wipes) alone - no master links were included in my set, though it looks like they were supposed to be. Would not recommend.

The bike chain repair kit worked acceptably. I tried it on a chain on my old bike. Even with the chain somewhat rusty I was able to take a bent link out of the chain and replace it. It comes with a bunch of alcohol pads, a 1/8" link, a 3/32" link, and a rivet extractor. The plastic case that the kit is in is very flimsy and can easily warp out enough that the flat pieces of the repair link could slip out, so I recommend putting everything in a different case or a small ziplock bag. The included instructions were well illustrated but small. This is more of a bike bag tool than a shop tool so it's going to be a little more cumbersome. Something like this in your bag doesn't add much weight or take up much space and could let you ride your bike out if you have a problem instead of walking out.
