A great air rifle

tjkarch July 14, 2016

I recently purchased a Benjamin .22 air rifle and wanted to also have a .177 rifle. I found this on Walmart.com and after reading the reviews bought it. So far I am very impressed with this rifle. I'm still in the process of breaking it in, but the accuracy has been very good. The scope that comes with it is of so-so quality. I didn't have any problems with it, but put on another scope that is clearer. I could have used the scope that came with it and lived, but I got a good deal on the other one. It is not loud and has great power. The only other drawback, from the scope, is the trigger. Look on youtube for Crosman trigger fix. It is a $1 easy fix. All you need is a small bearing from an RC shop. This rifle is a steal at $83!

Bearing for trigger

Gramma111 June 4, 2016

This was for my husband. A friend tell him that it needed a bearing for the trigger. He put it in the gun and he said works great. I'm not exactly sure what difference it made tho.

Great Bang for your Buck!! Fast and accurate !!

Doug January 21, 2016

Like I said, Great Bang for the Buck !! ....I was able to find it for the $69, but even at the shelf price if $89, its well worth it. (after first day of targeting with it, I went back and bought 2 more...one for my 16 year old who loved it, and one to just put away).. Use blue Loctite thread locker on all the screws associated with attaching the included scope. (its not the best scope, but it is by far not the worst and certainly acceptable at this price point!!...adjustments up , down, left, and right work as they should)...There are also 2 Phillips head screws on underside that you should hit with the thread lock just to be on the safe side... Accuracy really starts to get dialed in after a few hundred pellets. . I haven't played with the trigger setting screw yet, but look forward to it, as soon as its had a chance to "break in" a bit.....It loves Crossman Premier Hollow points way more than a few of the other lower priced pellets I have (economy daisy and Swiss arms pointed) all in the 8 grain range...The premiers just seem to have a better fit when loading (needing that light little shove for the last 16th of an inch to set it flush in chamber)...If the pellet goes in without that nice tight fit, the accuracy suffers quite a bit...So just stick with Premier hollow-points and you will be happy (they were on sale for about $7 for the 500 tin )....Again, for this price point, you cant go wrong.... A drop of 100% silicone every few hundred shots for the chamber seal and your set.. Also, its a nice firm pull to break and load the barrel...my 11 year old has just enough muscle and length in his arms to do it carefully without accidentally hitting/rubbing the scope against himself... Be safe folks and enjoy :)

Excellent purchase

DeaconDH November 13, 2015

I originally purchased a Gamo Whisper Fusion Elite. The Whisper Fusion Elite was problematic from day one. The scope on the Whisper Fusion is junk. When in Walmart I noticed the Crosman F4 at $89.00 and decided to buy it in order to get the scope off of it. Had no interest in the rifle in the beginning. I put the scope off the Crosman F4 on the Whisper Fusion Elite. The results for the Whisper Fusion even with this scope was horrible. I am a mechanical engineer by trade. I have to believe there is an assignable cause for the poor performance of the Whisper Fusion other than scopes. I tried two more scopes on the Whisper Fusion with consistent horrible results. After closer examination of the weapon and its mechanical parts I found the bottom of the break barrel pellet receiver was interfering with the cocking lever arm. The witness marks in this area of interference are cause for the break barrel not to close and seal properly every time. This is one of the main disadvantages of break barrel rifles as opposed to single barrel. You can or will occasionally lose the relationship of the barrel and scope when the mechanism does not close consistently. To make a long story short, I sanded out the positive material on the break barrel receiver of the Whisper Fusion Elite and eliminated the interference with the cocking arm. Using the Gamo .177 cal. red tip pellets this weapon now shoots dime size patterns at 25 yards. Not forgetting the Crosman F4, I started working with it one afternoon and to my surprise, it is the most accurate pellet gun in my arsenal shooting red tip pellets on top of pellets. I shoot 3 and 4 pellet groups that make one large hole at 25 yards. I did this with the addition of a center point 4-16 x 32 adjustable retcile scope. For $89.00 I went back and purchased a second to put away in my closet. While there the Benjamin .22 cal. Varmit Pack was on sale for $99.00. I purchased my second one of these and put away in my closet. The Crosman F4 and Benjamin Varmit Pack are comparable for accuracy and dependability. I may owe a number of my scopes an apology as my findings on the Gamo Whisper Fusion Elite ruled out the scopes as the problem. I have added and changed scopes now with great success on the Gamo rifle. To bad the barrels are not steel. To the original purpose of recommending the Crosman F4. Best gun for the dollar I have seen in a long time. My .177 cal. pellet studies have me in favor of the Gamo red tips. I have been engaged in this activity for approx. 43 years.

Great Gun For The Price But Watch The Scope

DusksShadow August 21, 2016

I love this little gun it's comfortable, light wight and fun to shoot i've killed in one shot squirrels, chipmunks and an ground hog i bought this gun for pest control and small game hunting. It hasn't let me down once the only issue i had with the gun was the scope it came with was broken and wouldn't sight in no matter what it's okay though because i never planned on using that scope i have an red dot sight on it now. It has been an accurate gun i highly recommend it.The price is low and worth it if your looking for pest control and small game hunting or just an plinking toy for your back yard i recommend this gun i have had very good luck with the Crosman Nitro piston series i owned the Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk .177 before and it was stolen from me so this is the gun i bought i'd even say it's the same if not better then the last one i love the tock on it the all weather style gives you a firm grip.I've had issues with center point scopes before not staying sighted but no issues other then that all in all this is a great gun. I highly suggest using Crosman Premier Hollow Point .177 pellets in this gun.

Nice rifle

CKCECB July 22, 2016

Purchased at local Walmart. Like others have mentioned, out of the box, the scope won't let you focus on anything close, so if you're just a short-range backyard or basement shooter, you'll need an adjustable object scope. I was actually able to adjust my scope and focus is for 5 yards (youtube). Follow the recommendations to use blue loctite on the scope mounts rings). The trigger really isn't that bad, and it got better after I greased the trigger pin and bearing surfaces (not the sear). It was loud the first 30 shots, but I found out that it was probably just the excess oil burning off (google dieseling). It's pretty quiet now, not much louder than my old Daisy 880. Overall, I'm happy with it.
