The house has a limestone foundation, and the weight of the house grinds the mortar away so that every few years someone has to come and tuck-point the exterior to keep the mortar intact. I use this for the same purpose on the interior. This stuff gets a lot of bad press for not being as strong as concrete, and it's polemerized soul isn't. it's a lot easier to work with, is somewhat flexible after curing and perfect for patching cracks and chips on vertical surfaces. The dark side is that it needs to cure for 28 days before painting.
Easy to use, serves it's purpose.
Filled in cracks in my basement. It worked great!!!!
So I went to paint my garage interior and realized I had an area along the concrete foundation crumbled away, with deeply chipped areas. About 2-3 feet in overall length.Researched online & watched a 10 minute video of a pro who's been repairing concrete foundations for 30 years show me how. However he does large areas and mixes his own concrete. Went to local hardware store & they recommended this product. After prepping the area & scraping away any bad crumbly foundation with wire brush, I applied this with a trowel. Luckily for me I did not read these reviews 1st cause I probably wouldn't have tried! I applied on deep areas well beyond what manufacturer recommends. It was mostly unpainted, see "before" photo. Then it occurred to me I didn't know what the drying/curing time was before repainting. Asked guys at the paint counter, they said at least 30 days is standard for concrete. Yikes, ok. So I painted garage except this area and made a note on my calendar to paint a month later. Painted a month later (with paint made to be used on concrete). it's hard as a rock and paint dried on quickly. It looks much better than if I had just painted over the crumbly concrete and I'm very happy with the outcome and the product. It was really easy for me to use not having done anything like this before. You probably should plan on letting it dry a long time. It seems to be standard practice and not a flaw in this product but user error if you attempt to paint too soon.
Overall, I like this DAP Ready-To-Use Concrete Patch, but I don't know why sometimes cracks appear after it dries. I really would like to know what I need to do to avoid it. 1 Photo shows the crack - and repair that I made, with another brand Crack Seal product. I give this product 4-stars - because I don't know why crack-lines result sometimes, after it dries. I have bought this product twice recently, back-to-back - and I will buy again.
Worked as advertised, but did not do well with large holes. They sunk as it dried and took quite a while to set.
Over 50% of the orders for this product over the last 2 years have come with at least one bucket busted open. DAP doesn't seem to care and it's a hassle to deal with. If there's an alternative, I'd go with it.
We returned these items to our local store on 11/10/23. One was refunded to our credit card and one we're still waiting for the refund 10 days later. Can't understand why only one has been credited as a refund and not the other since they were returned at the same time... Walmart customer service blamed the credit card company and they said that Walmart gave us false information.
Applied the product as directed on a dry day in the high 70s to high 80s. Trying to repair some chips in an exterior stairway. None were more than 1/2" deep. Product went on easily and smoothly The stairway was in direct sun for two full afternoons but the material never set up. The package states you can drive over the hardened product in 24 hours. By the third day, the product was the consistency of firm chewing gum. I had to dig it all out and start again. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing and using the stuff!!
This turned out to be a squishy foam-like consistency that never dried. Made quite the mess when it rained 5 days after my project. Save your money.
