This was a much easier process than I had anticipated. My laminate counter top was so outdated and this has really brought new life into my kitchen. They advise to do a test area of 3x3" and allow it 12 hours to cure. Mine adhered well, but to play it safe, I did do a light hand sand with 70 grit paper, you could use a hand sander if you have one (and adequate ventilation). From there cleaned off the dust and sprayed it down with Krud Kutter degreaser and another go with mineral spirits and a microfiber rag just to be sure that I start with a super clean surface. Once I started painting it went really quickly. Because I did a near white gray, I did use 2 coats, waiting 2 hours in between. From there, you wait 4 hours to do the satin coat. I again waited 2 hours and did a second coat. I opted to let cure 6 days (min is 3, 7 is ideal). Keep in mind this is satin, so if you're looking for a shiny top, you will not be happy with this result as the sheen is minimal, its more eggshell. Also, mine did come through a bit textured, not super smooth, so perhaps I could have sanded more, but I actually really like it that way so I do not mind.
I can't recommend this enough. It's extremely easy to do, and the results are really fantastic. My countertops don't look completely run down any longer. At some point, I will have to replace them because they are from 1985, but for now, this is a great, affordable way to upgrade my kitchen countertops. I think they came out fantastic. Oh, in one of the before pictures, I had a burn on the countertop. I fixed that with wood filler, sanded, and painted. It's not a professional job, but I am very happy with the results.
love this i was scared to do it at first but it was so easy everything came together in a kit and was great color
Easy to work with. Says only one coat, but I put several coats to cover better. Love the color. No problems at all. Glad I got this.
smaller than expected but overall a very good product
The cleaner was easy to use. the base coat left some issue with thickness in a couple spots but it isn't super noticable. The clear coat was tricky but it ended to looking good overall for the money. It isn't really something you can just touch up so take the time to do it right
Base color is great. Make sure you test the two different paint rollers specified for base and top coat.
Project was going really well and base coat was easy to apply. I just opened the top coat and it is chunky. No matter how much I mix it won't smooth out.
Info on the box states its a carcinogenic %26 to not pit foods directly on surfaces that are painted. That's completely stupid to make a countertop paint thats unsafe! That info is not disclosed on the website when i bought it. I got a complete refund at customer service counter.
The black color was more dull grey than black, and the top coat is a nightmare. 3 months in we have to completely redo the countertop. Not recommended.
