Recently, in preparation for the big snow storm in the North East, I wanted to get some quick and easy dinner choices on hand in case we got shut in. CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS over mashed potatoes is always a winner in our family. It's not just delicious but it's inexpensive and can be prepared in under 10 minutes. I've always used a certain brand of chicken and dumplings but the quality has been so poor the last few years that attempting to "doctor" them up to try and make them even close to their original product has been so time consuming and costly it's become not worth making. So, I decided to break a 25 year tradition and try a whole different brand instead.... Dinty Moore. I'm so glad I did. They are the traditional chicken and dumplings that I use to buy from the other brand (that went Covid cheap) and never changed back after the pandemic ended. Dinty Moore Chicken and Dumplings are whole dumplings packed in a thick deliciously flavored gravy that you can pour over mashed potatoes or biscuits or just eat right from a bowl. They won't water down your mashed potatoes or biscuits like other brand chicken and dumplings and the thick gravy tastes like homemade. I have eaten them from Walmart's made fresh daily bread bowls ($1.84 ea.) which makes great lunches or large appetizers. And, of course, when paired with Bob Evans Microwave Mashed Potatoes ($4 Family Size) can serve a family of 4 for under $8-$9. (By the way, Bob Evans Microwave Mashed Potatoes are delicious.) Dinty Moore Chicken and Dumplings are my go-to chicken and dumplings now. I've poured them over white meat chicken breasts and baked them in the oven. I've poured them over noodles and added sausage/kielbasa in a slow cooker when everyone was on a different time schedule. I even put a little spin on my Haluski by adding cabbage, kielbasa and onions to this Dinty Moore Chicken and Dumplings and it was delicious. The possibilities are endless as long as you have a little imagination and Dinty Moore Chicken and Dumplings. I highly recommend this product over other chicken and dumpling choices. *Compare my pictures in the other review (Sweet Sue Chicken and Dumplings) and decide for yourself*
Dinty Moore Chicken and Dumplings is my new go-to. It has that savory, salty, 'homestyle' flavor that hits the spot on a cold day. There's a generous amount of chicken, and it's very filling. Pro tip: Add a little extra black pepper or serve it over mashed potatoes if you want to take it to the next level. For the price and convenience, you can't beat it
It ain't as good as Mama's, but she's not around to make it for me. In fact, when I'm eating it, I can't remember what Mama's chicken and dumplings tasted like. I think that if you want some chicken and dumplings and don't want to go to the trouble of making them yourself, this product is the best you will taste today. I generally add a spoonful of bacon grease (fat), and some more chicken (protein), a 4-oz can of hot green chiles (stew), and I don't add slices of anything, well, maybe a slice or two of fried bacon. Mama wouldn't approve of my adjustments, but then she ain't here to make it for me.
i really hate to go to canned meals.. but sometimes I'm just tired.. can't get out..etc. but this is so comforting.. was surprised at the actual dumplings texture%26 not little square pieces of chicken.. nice%26 moist.. so forgive me for eating yummy canned food. lol
The Chicken and Dumplings are a good easy meal. easy to prepare and are easy on the stomach. they take good care of my appetite. And are very easy to prepare.
Dinty Moore Chicken %26 Dumplings is not watery. Half of the can in other brands is just chicken broth (liquid). Dinty is good and reasonably priced.
I, mostly, love to cook and eat homemade fare, but when my lazy streak appears, I grab a can of DINTY MOORE Chicken and Dumplings! BUT, NOT SO FAST!!: I add leftover cooked veggies like carrots, stewed tomatoes, peas, green beans, etc., and make it MY OWN! PLUS, my leftovers rarely go to waste, and....................IT TASTES REALLY GOOD!!!!!!!
Quite a bit of chicken chunks mixed in with dumplings. The gravy is good. For those watching their sodium intake, beware it has 980mg of sodium. Good tasting though.
It was mostly dumplings, and 4 TINY cubes of chicken. Seriously, I've had real chicken and dumplings, and this mess didn't even resemble it. It was like blah with salt. Ugh!
can is half full, mostly broth and had a couple of dumplings and a few small chunks of chicken and smelled terrible! threw it out, too baf I cant get a refund! that sucks!
