Downy Liquid Fabric Softener Dispenser Ball for Laundry

I have used Downey balls before and really like them. They are very handy now that our new washers lock once they start. The problem that I have with this one is the condition it came to me in. There is brown STUFF all over the cardboard that is surrounding the top of the ball. Thank goodness it is plastic so All I have to do is wash it off.

Ever since these came out about 30 some years ago, I have tried to keep one handy. I recently moved and was gifted an old washer, without a fabric softner dispencer... trying to remember to add fabric softner at the right time is almost impossible. In multiple moves, my Downey ball was lost. So I ordered 2, great product. Makes remembering fabric softner a breeze

I truly have seen these for many many years and never bought one because I've always had a dispenser in my washer, but I thought I'm gonna try it so I did and people this really works. I was so shocked at how simple. If you don't want to have your dispenser, get gunky use this ball for your softener and I promise it works beautifully. I will always have one.

It was broken. Could not use it. Would like to trade for complete one.

I don't know if the problem is the Dawn liquid fabric softer, which is very thick, my cheap washer, or this ball. I've been putting a tiny amount of the fabric softner in the ball with hot water and shaking it up to mix it as well as I can before I even put it in. It seems closed securely then, but it must open too early, or not be mixed well enough to leave such crazy stains on my clothes. These are almost impossible to get out. Farewell, downy ball.

I couldn't even open it , I tried to pull the top bit up to get it out of the way and it popped off . The cheap plastic is weaker than the screw top imagine that

Had one of these years ago and it was perfect. Got lost in a move. Our new washer doesn't have a functioning softener dispenser, so I got one of these again. First one came it with all of the internal parts detached (couldn't get my fingers in to fix it). Returned it for a new one and, every time I pull it shut, it feels like it's going to fall apart as well. Crap shoot on weather or not it's going to dispense properly. Super disappointed. The first one I had was built well and this is garbage.
