DrainShroom Drain Snake, Tub and Sink Auger, Clog Remover

I've been in construction for years. I've installed %26 cleaned a lot of drain piping... I rate this DrainShroom Snake 5 stars, because its narrow enough (.22 inch) %26 just long enough (30 to 37 inches depending on the size of the drain strainer opening because there is bulb of cable near the handle,, one could drill a hole in the strainer to feed the Snake through) %26 FLEXABLE enough to get down most narrow sink %26 bath drains and extend to the (2 inch) main wall drain... BUT you have to know how to use it... You must have a VARIABLE speed drill %26 you must tighten it to the hex end of the Shroom Snake VERY tight... With one CLOTH GLOVED hand feeding the Snake %26 the other hand triggering the drill, press gently %26 wiggle the Snake down the drain while letting it spin in your gloved hand, you MUST spin the drill clockwise VERY slowly, %26 MOST IMPORTANTLY you need to keep the Snake cable VERY taught between your feed hand %26 the drill ( or the Snake will twist on itself %26 kink, which, can be unkinked ). Be careful if you have a clean out opening at the bottom of your P-trap because the Snake can snag on it... By the way keep warm water running for lubrication while your doing it... As soon as you feel the Snake stops turning or is blocked from going into the drain further PULL the Snake out to see if you have some hair or gunk... Repeat a number of times... If you don't understand these instructions DON'T buy it... AND make sure you use lots of drain cleaner to open it up the rest of the way... Walmart Great Value drain cleaner works %26 is inexpensive... It won't work for impenetrable clogs or those that are deeper in the pipe, for those you'll have to take the pipes apart or try going down the vent pipe on the roof with a longer %26 thicker Snake... You won't know if this works until you try it, so don't whine cause you spent the cost of two lattes... P.S it worked for me I got 2 hair balls out... Give this a thumbs up so buyers can understand what they're getting...

My adult son and I both tried this device on our clogged bathtub. A very small hairball came out and the device itself stopped about six inches into the drain like it hit a wall. We kept trying it but it never got any further into the pipe. We gave up, and thought we'd accomplished nothing. Oddly, the drain is clear. Which seems impossible. That hairball was no bigger than a pencil eraser.

Seems to work pretty well. Just attach it to your power drill and that's that. it has helped clear debris out of my pipes so im happy with it.

its a nice little augur kit, and I recommend it. But the only improvement I could think of, would be a little different cable end that grabs hair and stuff.

i love this drain clog tool i do with it were longer but its easy to get down into the drain with the spin from your drill. nice but needs another 15 inches to reach the deepest point of the drain.

i was sooooo happy about the design and was using it about 15 minutes according to instructions and the snake detached itself at what looks like a quick connect , under the handle. the clear plastic sleeve had broken away from the shaft that goes into the power drill. I wanted the same item again but am worried it would break in the same manner.

This unclogged 2 drains in 5 minutes. Very easy to use, but on the second drain when I pulled up the snake the metal coil stretched out and ruined the snake. I had to throw it away after 2 uses.

it broke the first time I tried to use it I've been in the construction industry for over 60 years I'm 80 years old what a piece of junk

I did not rate this more than one star because it did not work on my kitchen sink. I attached it to my electric drill and slid it into the drain. I ran it for almost 10 minutes and it ran fine. But it did not break up the clog in my drain. It is a well-made product but it will probably work better on hair clogs than unknown stoppage.
