Drive medical scout compact travel power scooter, 4 wheel

I bought this for my husband who is 82 and unable to walk very far. We wanted to still be able to do things with our children and grandchildren. I ordered it on line on a Sun. night and it arrived the following Thurs. So far we are quite pleased with it. It was easy to assemble.

Several months ago I had a very bad heat stroke that ended me in the hospital for over a month. This left me un-able to walk or even stand for any length of time. I found this and I was surprised to find the quality of this item. It is light enough to take with me, but sturdy enough to handle any place I wanted to go. Is every thing I was looking for.

My grandmother purchased this so she could continue going to sporting events and functions that involved her great grandchildren. It has been everything she needed. We used it for a week long softball tournament, it handled the terrain with ease, was easy for her to operate and tons of clearance in the feet area to minimize tripping hazards. The battery life lasted like longer than we expected, we didn't have to break it down often to load, but when we did it was quick and easy.

Arrived quickly... Easy to assemble the few parts that needed assembly... Especially like the easy to read battery strength indicator on the control panel on the handle... Also the speed control is a hoot- goes from turtle to rabbit with a turn of the knob ! We found a neutral switch at back of scooter if you just need to push it- not a convenient spot- but it's there. Both armrests fold up & down to make it easy to get on & off. I'm 6' tall, 260 lbs. & fit nicely on the seat with leg room, Bottom line: I'M GLAD I BOUGHT THIS ONE !!

I purchased this because my insurance turned down my doctor's recommendation for a scooter to help me get around. I absolutely love this scooter! While outside I put my cell phone on my wood bench by the house and forgot it. Our house is located on a bit of a hill. While riding the scooter I realized I could not find my phone and started retracing my steps. I went from the sidewalk up the hill to the bench without any difficulty. A few days later I went to own town's fest and drove all around for over 5 hours. Then I went to a Super Wal-Mart to shop with my son and while there the battery finally started to go down. The only thing I did do was add one of my bamboo seat cushion due to my back injury to make it even more comfortable. The seat swivels so getting on and off is easy. Great product at a fantastic price.

I bought this scooter for my wife and after using it for a 13 hour visit to Disney, I was very pleased with my purchase. The battery is long lasting, the scooter is easy to take apart and put together and the 4 wheels gives great stability and comfort. Highly recommend this product.

Overall I am very pleased with the scooter., but the turning capability seems unbalanced. Turning to the left the wheels extend to about 50 degrees and make a comfortable turn. To the right, however, they extend much less (maybe half that of the left), making turns to the right more difficult to navigate. Is there some adjustment that could be made to free the right turning radius more?

This scooter is great! Exactly like the ones you find in grocery stores. My wife wanted one of her own after Hoveround and Medicare turned her down. Price was right. Breaks down into four (4) sections plus the basket. The specs tell you the heaviest piece is 40 lbs. it is one of the platform sections which includes the steering column and is a bit unwieldy; my wife cannot lift it out of the trunk so I have to go shopping with her just to lift the pieces in and out. If you are frail, not strong, think about it. We are probably going to purchase the "wagon" for $200 which attaches to the rear and she can drive right up on it. As I wrote, the scooter is great; make sure the user can lift an awkward 40 lbs.

I purchased the Scout compact scooter for my husband who has mobility issues. My son-in-law said it was easy to put together; however I can’t comment on taking it apart as we haven't done that yet. My first reaction was to return it because I think it’s too small for him (he is 6’, 190 lbs. and there is VERY little room for his knees); however, since it isn’t something he will be using every day, he decided to keep it. Pay close attention to the specs; the highest setting for the seat is only 21 inches. The next model up only provides an additional 2 inches. I contacted the company to see if I could purchase a higher seat post but they don’t offer one and any modifications to the scooter void the warranty. If you are tall, or have larger feet (my husband wears a size 10 shoe and his feet just fit) my suggestion would be to find a retailer in your area and “try it on for size” before purchasing. I gave it 4 stars because mechanically we’ve had no issues and it has given my husband the ability to get out and about in the neighborhood.

It was easy to assemble (my husband did it in no time), it looks nice and of good quality. My only complaint is that there is NO leg room and I am SHORT. I'm 5'2" so if anyone taller than I am would be very uncomfortable riding/driving this scooter. If I put my feet where they are comfortable and my knees aren't bent way up, I'm on the little fenders and are too high, ugh. The back of the seat isn't adjustable and at the base of the back where it hitches to the seat there are two large circular 'things' that make you think you can put the backrest down a bit but it doesn't move. The seat doesn't move forward and back either. I am highly disappointed with it. It was easy to drive as I tried it first in our driveway and it was very nice (if you are 4' tall it would be perfect). Sorry.
