this was so easy to install and made a major difference in the amount of cold air escaping in the heat and heat staying in the house when i woke to 27 degrees! my only concern is how well the sleeve is going to hold up and look by the end of the season. i'll get back to you on that!
By searching the Walmart website, I was able to find this type of draft sealer. This was perfect for my apartment door on the inside of the building, for the upcoming winter. By using Duck Double Draft Seal along with several other little touches; I feel ready for a long cold winter.
I live in an apartment building where my neighbors across the hall enjoy chain smoking cigarettes and weed almost as much as they like slamming doors and raising cain in the wee hours of the morning. The gap under my front door allowed the filth and stink of said neighbors into my humble home. The Duck Brand Double Draft Seal has adequately solved this problem. The only negative I have is that the elastic bands that hold it in place slide off every now and then....totally worth it.
This may have just been me not understsnding what this item actually did but in no way can this item be used to plug up the gap on the bottom of a door that is used to go in and out doors constantly. Not even for a quick fix. It consists of 2 Styrofoam pieces and a soft case to put them in. Then your supposed to cut the Styrofoam to size put the pieces in the soft case and slide it under the door sealing the gap. Except if you open or close the door the item moves so you are stuck adjusting it every time the door is used. I don't know maybe if the door isn't going to be used this might work but getting the rubber stopper that fits might be a better option that way the door can be used without having to adjust the Styrofoam.
This was not long enough to fit my door although the description says fits inside or outside doors. It still left about a 4" gap and my door is a normal 36" door. I wish the package gave the right measurements and then I would never have brought it. The Styrofoam fit the door but then it did not fit into the covering without being cut. Then once I cut it I couldn't return it to the store so it is of no use to me.
These work great if there there is no thick carpeting in the interior of the exterior door. Prepare to lay some type of smooth runner for the roll to slide on inside or it will catch on the carpeting and roll under the door when opened. Thiner Burber carpeting is OK. They will not work if there is a thick weather thresh hold between the door and storm door. The door will not close. You can put one roll on the inside;but it tends to ride up the door, not keeping the draft out. Kind of defeats the purpose.
They had good reviews and it looked like it was gonna work. I paid a little extra for it just because I thought it would work because it was so well advertised, but and I'll actuality. The little strap band is too tight and misplaced so it doesn't hold properly onto the door. I had to like rig it to make it work. It does cover the bottom of the door really well, but I wouldn't recommend it to other customers thank you goodbye.
It's great if you have a small door. This item does not fit a 36" door from end to end. It's supposed to stop drafts so it should fit across the entire bottom of the door.
I needed this, because I could see the outside sunlight shining under my backdoor. As soon as I got it, opened it up and placed it under my door, the strap that holds it up on the door broke and now it will not stay under the door. It keeps rolling, don't stay connected and bunching up. I haven't returned it yet, because it was a 2 pack and only one is dysfunctional.
My door measures 23" long. While you can shorten the styrofoam inserts, the length of the sleeve it slides into is one size so you end up rolling it up on an end so that the rubber band holds it in place. Theoretically. It catches on the carpet and falls off every time I open or shut the door. When in place, yes, it works beautifully to keep the draft out. Opening the door requires both hands, one on the knob and 1 on the stupid guard to hold it up so it doesn't slide off. The idea is great, the functionality of it leaves a lot to be desired. The fabric is like a velour, the most "sticky" fabric you could use for this thing. No, I'm not impressed.
