This small child's microscope is a wonderful introduction to the world of science. It will enlarge his view of small objects, and it will be great fun for the child to scout out awesome little things to look at with it. True, it's not going to give you 100x power magnification of a butterfly wing, but then again, a machine that would do that would be 100 % breakable glass and dangerous to your 3-year-old, wouldn't it ?? This adorable, colorful unit is big chunky plastic which your child can haul around with one hand, and if he hits the table with it, nothing bad is going to happen.
My K/1 students love to use the Microscope to look at bugs.
This was the perfect accompaniment to my classroom Science Center. The kids are excited about the colorful, easy to use microscope. They find it captivating to see bugs up close and personal. Their imagination is boundless. As a educator, I am thrilled I made the choice to purchase the GeoSafari.
Needs a double A battery for the little light...otherwise that's it..no slides or methylene blue or glue etc. Just stick an object under the microscope and look at it. Pretty clear view, obviously not like an electron microscope but this is great for younger kids. All one piece so nothing gets lost. The plastic is thick and sturdy. My 3 and 5 year olds can both enjoy this. Recommend for a birthday gift or educational summer toy to keep those minds working.
You can tell a ton of thought was put into creating this- down to the last design. I strongly prefer toys that have an educational component and this one nails it! From the easy to use microscope to the kid-sized friendly knob- this one has quickly become my daughter's favorite toy. She wanders the yard looking for items to magnify. There's also an easy to use light and helps with seeing even the smallest of details. She gets so excited about learning which is so amazing to see. Great concept, super cool toy and thrilled parent!
Does not magnify a lot, but it is simple to use and perfect for smaller children that would have difficulty operating the more advanced models.
Item is a gift, so has not been opened and examined thoroughly.
We got the Educational Insights Geosafari Jr. My First STEM Toy science toy, gift for boys or girls, ages 3,4,5+ for our 6-yr old daughter. As soon as we took it out of the box, it looked like a fake one, just a cheap baby toy. We tried looking at some dried flowers with it but didn't seem to work....not impressed, do not recommend!
You may more discourage your kid from doing this kind of thing if they think all microscope‘s make object look like this. You would’ve thought that they could magnify properly for this price. Lightweight cheap. But for pretend it works OK. Just tell your child eventually we Will get you a microscope you can see better with
I bought this because of the excellent reviews, but it's pretty much worthless. It's not a microscope at all. It's just another cheap plastic toy for my kids to throw around with really no purpose. I try to purchase educational toys for them, so this was disappointing.
