I've been on the hunt for a good foundation for my skin type. I had never tried e.l.f cosmetics before, but always see posts about their products, great reviews, etc. I also had a friend recommend I give it a try. I actually love this foundation. It goes on nice, easy, and smooth, without feeling too heavy on my skin. The light ivory was the perfect shade for me, other products light ivory is way to light. This lasted all day, without needing touch ups, and looked fabulous on my skin. It was easy to wash off as well. I can't wait to try tons more of products from the e.l.f line, I'm impressed!!!!
Formula is set up to be just like high end brands, last all day plus more (sad to say I slept in it) the dewy finish really gives the moisturizer look and the matte is beyond matte both textures are amazing and perfectly balanced. I do mix some shades for a better shade for myself. So pro tips if you can't find your shade get a darker one with a lighter one matching your undertones for a perfect shade. Apply with sponge beauty blender, mix on back of hand, after you squeeze the water out of sponge dab onto product then face for a even coverage, I use the sponge from dollar tree the beauty blender dupe works just the same for only $1.25 compared to $22 at ultra! Apply more product where needed or for more full coverage set with translucent loose powder along with a setting spray for a fabulous long lasting look! I recommend the sand shade for people that aren't super light but aren't that dark either because it's a very neutral tone, also it was super cheap to buy on Walmart since they offered free shipping. It came very quick too! I ordered two days ago and it came. (looks lighter on camera but in person it's like one shade darker)
I only use cruelty, free products and this one is right up there with the major brands. The coverage with this make up is flawless and there are tons of different shades! This will be my go to foundation from here on!
This is now my second order of the E.L.F Flawless foundation. The first time I used it, I applied with my fingers and was unsure as to whether I liked it. However, applied with a beauty blending sponge or brush, a little goes a long way and it gives really nice, soft, air-brushed finish/coverage. I like the texture a lot; it's thick and very creamy with great pigmentation. I also really like the semi-matte finish, so it gives that dewy finish so many of us are looking for, but it's not overly shiny, just healthy looking. I would like it if there was a lighter shade than Porcelain, as once it oxidises it tends to go a little darker. If used with a setting powder it stays on for a whole working day. I have normal/combination skin and this product suits my skin type. For oily skin types it may require blotting/powdering during the day. It would suit dry skin.
The foundation is very creamy and goes on thick, but blends easily, either with brushes (for fuller coverage) or with a sponge (for medium coverage). It builds relatively okay, but you have to blend it out quite a bit to keep it from being patchy, since a thin first layer will dry quite quickly. It dries to a nice satin finish, so if you have normal skin it should be alright (see swatches). Vanilla turned out to be my shade, since Fawn was too pink, Sand was too brown, and Nude made me look very orange. It has a very clean, neutral smell, and almost baby powder-y. Taking 1 star off because if you have oily skin like me, it starts to melt off after about 4 hours. It can also oxidize slightly, so if you have yellowy undertones, or pinky undertones you might come out a bit orange after some time.
I love the coverage but it oxidises so much! To make it my shade I mix it with my maybelline fit me foundation in 100 as that is too light. Also my pump stopped working for a few weeks then started again. The foundation has a scent to it, the scent is nice but quite strong to the point where I can smell it from my brushes...
I bought this product because of all of the good reviews on it, when I've tried it out I've been so disappointed with it. My only pro is that the colour is really nice and matches my skin tone pretty perfectly. The cons however outweigh it, it looks so cakey when its on my skin which is really odd because it feels like a really lightweight foundation on the skin. I have tried wearing it for work all day (only in an office!) I have worn it with powder without powder and also tried just baking certain areas and I'm honestly pretty sad about it considering how much everyone seems to rave about it. The coverage is really not as good as I'd have expected, it does not cover my blemishes well at all and it has also come off completely under both of my eyes!
So I bought this a while back as my first foundation. Despite the fact that I never wear makeup I bought it for practice. It is heavily perfumed and makes me break out like crazy. I started with putting it on my whole face but the skin around my eyes got a rash from it. So then I only put it in my cheeks and chin. I put it under my chin too. This made me break out with tons of pimples on my cheeks and under my chin where I don't ever get pimples. So I don't recommend if you have sensitive skin. The smell is so freaking strong.
I received the Elf flawless satin foundation this morning and unfinished it was used . The plastic seal was ripped off and it was obvious that there was evidence of foundation dried on the top .
