poor policy on core charges and online

Dwight December 26, 2024

there is not much that can go wrong with a vehicle battery in the short amount of time I have had it.. so a rating is kind of silly...I would not rate walmart's way of handling the purchase very high though... I bought it online.. since they only had 2 left in stock when I was looking at the website.. or so it claimed.. I got an email telling me to come and get it at the pick-up spot...and dto let wammart know I was coming... which I did.. kbut.. no one was really expecting me.. it took about 30 minutes of waiting after...after one of employees found out why I was sitting there.. ...then came the bad part... I was sent to customer service to get my core charge back.. but.. when I got there.. the person working there trying to help me for about an hour..and she went above and beyond what she should have had to do.. none of this was the fault of an employee..dthey were great... anyway.. after a long wait...during which multiple employees tried to help me... they finally discovered it is Walmart policy to make you wait to receive a receipt for 24 hours ...so finally I was told I would have to go home and return the day after thanksgiving and try again... no way I would do that on black friday..so.. even now.. I have the old battery sitting in the truck of my car..no way to dispose of it or get my core charge.. I had an email on my phone telling me to come and get it.. but still no receipt.. so I just had to eat the core charge..I will still shop at walmarts.. but will not ever use curbside pick up again.. nor will I buy from the website anything I need to have a core charge or deposit retuned to me..

Higher price doesn't always make it better.

Sam June 4, 2026

You would be surprised at all the hype over batteries. What you basically need to know is how much power you need to start your car (CCA), what is the year round climate and how much you want to pay. Higher price doesn't always mean better. I live in the southern part of the US and can use what is called a Flooded Acid battery. That is also one of the cheapest. The Flooded acid battery means that, there is no special partitions or fiber glass matts inside, that is why it is cheaper. The other two types are AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt) and the Multi Cell/Pack. These both have pros but are not necessarily better. The best thing for you is to look up the type of battery you need, research how well that type performs and make a decision based on facts not on price or hype.

EverStart Batteries are simply the best!

Mike August 23, 2025

EverStart Batteries are all I use in all my vehicles. This particular battery will be the 'Chassis' battery in my Class-A Motorhome. Compared to all the auto part store brands, these are less expensive and have better warranties. And if you travel, and ever have a problem, Walmart's are everywhere! So if you need to exchange it, it's simple!

I ordered a battery which showed in the ad that it was a group 78 with 800 CCA - 1000. However when the battery was picked up, it stated on the label that it was 750 CCA and wasn't configured with the correct battery vent connections. We immediately called the store and at present trying to solve this problem.

Good battery product, however, getting refund for battery core charge is difficult. I tried getting this done at customer service inside the store. Even with the receipt showing they core charge, the representative was unable to refund charge. He told me I would need to obtain it at the automotive desk. The automotive desk entrance was showing a CLOSED sign. I am going to try again, but I have to make a special trip again.

well when I ordered it the battery said that it was 800 cold cranking amps just like in the picture well when they brought it out to me it was only 750 cold cranking amps which is a lot when it comes to a diesel and freezing temperatures outside takes a big time toll on your battery nobody really wanted to address the issue or take care of me. so I knew that if I brought the battery back We probably end up having to wait another week since this was the last one so I just bent over and took it in the derriere

Don't expect a core deposit back

LJ March 29, 2026

The battery itself is fine. The employee that brought my battery to me didn't know anything about giving my deposit back for the old battery core. He sent me to customer service. The customer service manager also didn't know anything about giving a core deposit back. They were not able to look up my receipt saying my credit card number hadn't been used to buy anything there for 90 days even though I paid for the battery that same morning. I left the old battery there and just left. No one knows anything there. I guess I dont get my deposit money back. That's 2 for 2 negative experiences with an online order. They won't get a third chance

Out money and stuck with two useless batteries.

Joshua March 28, 2026

I purchased the batteries online. So I had to paid for a core charge on batteries like -$33.00. So I changed out batteries to get my core charge back, not so easy. It came through curbside pickup and I don't know why. So I went to automotive center to get my refund on battery core charge. They needed a receipt for the purchase. No receipt in hand, so what to do. Well no one could help me or know how. So I wasted about 45 minutes trying to find this receipt of purchase and couldn't find anything on the app, so no refund on my core charge.

FINE UNTIL IT SHOWED UP DOA

LE February 19, 2026

Installed battery. Worked perfectly out of the box. Drove the vehicle a couple of times. Went out to use it today. The battery was so dead, the engine did not even turn over. No lights dash board or panel lights came on at all. Took battery to shop for testing. Battery was so dead, it did not even register on their battery tester. DEAD! DEAD!
