This is a great little compactor for the kitchen! We throw our daily compost scraps in, egg shells, vegetable scraps, fruit scraps, etc. Once it gets full, we take it outside and dump it into the larger composter in our backyard. This saves us the odor, and it gives us the convenience of only dumping about once a week. This is the second one we bought, the first one we bought lasted about two and a half years and one of the little arms broke off the top. It was well worth the $13!
I had been looking at the shiny stainless steel compost bin for as much as $50 in a local store and decided that the Eco Pail was more then 2 times larger and 1 third the price with ship to store. I decided if i don't like it i lost 17 bucks but i love it. Started filing it up a week and a half ago and about half way full.No more walking out to the compost bin at night to dump zip lock bags. Heck, the money i will save in zip bags will pay for the thing in 6 months. No smell with filter. Love it. I would buy it again.
It is not always convienient to run outside with coffee grounds, tea leaves, egg shells and veggie waste, and it is unpleasant to keep it in a container where it smells bad and draws fruit flies. The charcoal filter and snug fitting lid keep it for a few days until I have time to take it out to the compost bin. Great invention and just the right size.
I have had this compost pail for a couple of weeks , and I love it. I was getting tired of stinky coffee cans and buckets taking space on my countertop - icky, ugly... But with my new filtered composting pail in the cabinet under the sink, the problem is solved. Works great, holds a lot, and doesn't smell. The only downside of it is that the filters are disposable, and you have to buy new ones every 3 months.
I have only had my compost pail for a week and so far I am very happy with it. There has been no smell or fruit flys. The lid seals well and I love that it holds so much. I just use a plastic bag as a liner to keep the pail pretty clean. Also, if I am going outside and the pail is not too full I just grab the bag and take it out.
Works great, holds a lot of compost, and cleans up quickly. We use a bag in the bucket but that really isn't necessary if you don't mind washing the bucket out after dumping the compost.
small enough to not take up too much space but large enough to hold food scrapes without making daily trips to the compost. thinking of buying another one for a family member
I was surprised on how small this was in comparison to the pictures that were online, BUT realizing it was designed for a Kitchen Counter it works well with a low profile and thumbprint for us. I will say that after a few weeks of use and a container full of veggie & fruit scraps there is absolutely NO smell what so ever! This works as advertised and would recommend it!
I'm trying to start a compost bin and needed a place to hole food scraps with out haveing to go out side after every meal to put scraps in bin. This works good, holds a weeks worth of scraps easly and gives no orders or attracts flys.
This item creates More Problems for it's price, than anything I have had in the past :( I am a composter, from way back, and wanted something I could use "quickly," on an every other day purpose. This item was, definitely, Not the Answer. The lid Does Not Seal, so the filters are useless. Gnats and flies find their way in and out, at their leisure. The maggots appeared after the first two days, and they are demanding More Food :O Pass this item buy...you will end up with more visitors than you planned on!
