Excalibur 9-Tray Deluxe Dehydrator, Black, 3900B

I have owned an Excalibur dehydrator for many years. I like it so much that I ordered another for myself and one for a friend. I use it mostly for drying apples every year for a school fundraiser and my husband makes beef jerky! Easy to operate, reliable and creates a great product. I highly recommend this appliance!

I recently received this dehydrator and I am so pleased with it. It's big enough to do beef jerky without having to fill it up and run it twice. I thought it would take longer to receive it when I ordered it but was surprised how fast it got here. I would certainly order from them again and again. If I had to complain about anything it would be that the colored ones are more expensive, I would've liked one other than black but thought I shouldn't spend more money for it.

I bought this on a recommendation from a raw vegan chef and he was spot on. The Excalibur does everything it is suppose to do, and is simple to operate and clean. It is energy efficient and takes up little counter space. My advice is to purchase one for yourself and save a lot of money on store bought products. Do it yourself !!!!

Got tired of dealing with inferior dehydrator. Bought this one based on it's stellar reputation. Have used it now for about a month. I have died vegetables, fruits and jerky. I am TOTALLY satisfied with it. The extra cost is more than worth the quality and quantity of the good you can make with this product. You will not regret it, I promise.

I read all the reviews. There were a lot of comments about how noisy the dehydrator was. The noise was only about as disrupting as using a microwave. The door only makes a noise if it's not put on properly. Over all I really like this machine. The time it took to dry my jerky was cut by more than half. It was a lot easier to clean up than my old dehydrator too. Plus, being square, it held more meat than my old traditional round one.

Works great. The trays are easy to take in and out, are easy to clean. It would have been nice to have controls nearer the front rather than the back, but I can see mechanically why they are placed at the rear. There is a bit of a learning curve to know how to dry different things and its been fun experimenting. It would be nice if it had an automatic humidity sensor to turn it off upon completion.

This dryer dries faster than my old one! I am happy with it's drying capacity. It does make quite a bit of noise, however, after doing some research it may be just a screw to tighten or loosen...let's hope! It fits on my counter nicely and so far I have dried onions and parsley ( just got this 3 days ago). Onions took 3 hours and parsley took 2. I used wax paper on the screens so they didnt stick. I love the temperature guage..so handy to use according to the foods to dry.

I would recommend this dryer if you need to do a lot at one time. Tons of room. I did a bushel of sliced apples in five rounds. It is a little heavy. Being a 60 yr. old woman, I could not lift it up over my head to put on a shelf, so I store it on the closet floor. Easy to use. Easy to clean. Arrived in an undamaged box, but the dryer looked like it had been through a war. The corner of the cabinet was cracked almost off and the racks were jammed into the unit in such a bind that I had a hard time getting them out. But with some glue and TLC, it works fine. Be aware that the racks need to be turned half way through the process to get uniform drying. All in all I'm glad so far that I got it.

I bought this a month ago and the machine rattles a lot when the middle trays are in place. Seems like when the trays are pushed all the way in, it pushes on the back screen which the fan seems to hit. I won't know if this will affect the performance and longevity of the motor/fan. Not the mention the possibility of micro metal fragments getting on food. I also notice trays 1 and 9 doesn't heat well so I have to rotate all the trays every hour for an even product. I like that it's made of plastic for easy of cleaning compared to similar machines on the market.

It is MUCH LOUDER than the model I bought 20 years ago. The fan rattles instead of just a pleasant low hum. I can't sit in the same room with it and do regular activities. Haven't decided yet what to do with it. When I use it, I have to take it outside which is super inconvenient.
