I got this Galvanized Steel Hardware Cloth from Expert Gardener, because I needed something to block off the openings of the railing that surrounds my deck. This steel hardware cloth was perfect for what I needed. The cloth that I used is 5ft long and 2ft high, and each mesh hole is 1/2in. I wanted to block the openings of my deck rails to prevent my grand-kids from dropping toys and other things off the deck. Another reason for the mesh cloth was to keep my small dogs from potentially falling through the rails when out on the deck. The nice feature with this particular mesh cloth is that I can see through it and still enjoy my view. The mesh openings are a perfect size because it doesn't take away from the look of the deck; you can hardly tell that it's there. Installation of the Expert Gardener mesh cloth was really simple; since I used it on my deck all I needed to do was staple it with a staple gun and its holding fine. On the packaging it shows other uses for the mesh hardware cloth such as: using it as a tree guard, soil sifting, and using it as a chimney guard.
I haven't used this product yet but I'm sure it will come in handy in the spring. I have used hardware cloth similar to this in the past to close up spaces on my patio where starlings were trying to nest. I have also used it to protect young shrubs and trees from animal damage. This is a really versatile item to have around the house.
worked for a burn barrel screen
"Expert Gardner Galvanized Steel Hardware Cloth" The name says it all. Very strong and rust resistant. So many possibilities for usage. Perfect for small animal cages, such as rabbits, etc. I want to cover my chimney opening to keep birds or little animlas out. The ventilation opening around the brick foundation, any little place wildlife can move into, this would be beneficial for. The small 1/2 inch openings in the mesh are just perfect for all uses. I wish I had, had this to put around my young apple trees. If you have a need now or just want to keep on hand for upcoming projects, I would recommend this hardware cloth. Im sure crafters would have many ideas also.
I used this to protect my sweet pea and hibiscus bush since they are just growing. This keeps out the rabbits without looking gawdy or encasing the plant too much. It's pliable and easy to work with and I can keep reusing it. I will be purchasing this item again
This will be used in the spring since we got 18" of snow on the ground. It will surround my flowers that every year gets trampled on by pets of neighbors. It is made sturdy and should hold up well. It wont rust since it's galvanized. I cant wait to use it and strongly recommend this to anyone that needs peotection for their plants
I can't wait to use this Expert Gardener Hardware Cloth. It has a 1/2 in mesh opening. When spring comes I plan on using it in my garden to keep cucumber vines off the ground. I will mount it on 1x1 poles. It is called hardware cloth which is a little misleading as it is actually steel wire. It does however have may uses as shown on package. It can be used to cover chimney openings to keep debris out. It can be used for protection of new plants or trees or you can use it to sift rocks from the soil. It could be used as a trellis for flowers also. I'm sure there are many uses for this product.
No, not that kind. I mean the real ones, and squirrels, raccoons etc. This hardware cloth is simply the best way to keep out critters while letting in air. Simply cut it to the needed size and staple it inside any vent or opening. It allows air through while blocking everything else.
I have used this particular product before, it works well for docile animal enclosures. It needs to be slightly buried to keep animals from pushing it up and escaping. Due to weather, have not had a chance to use the actual sample. I intend to use my cloth for fence repair, where a dog has dug under and displaced sections at a corner. Overlay the current fence, and use metal wire to secure the hardware cloth to the fence.
I really never understood why Galvanized Metal fence like material is called hardware cloth, but it is. This is a small gridded roll of the product that has many uses as a barrier, small home repairs and reinforcement as well as crafts and hobbies. We have a neighbor that just lets their cats wander where they please and they love our flower beds if we don't keep this or chicken wire over the mulch. It has a nice tight grid, is strong and protected from the elements through galvanization. I really recommend gloves when using this and even for opening the wire wrapped roll. It really is packaged tight and will quickly do a shift unwind but still in the coil shape. I didn't think it would unwind like it did but it grabbed the skin on the end of my middle finger actual trapping my finger until I figured a way to get it to go coiled back just a tad to release the skin. It didn't actually cut me but it was painful and in very sure it will bruise.
