I was pleasantly pleased with these charcoals. They lit up super quick and burned clean and fast. I was able to cook salmon on plank, hot dogs and three small steaks. I'll be buying these again for sure. Highly recommend!
I am a Spark Reviewer for Walmart and today I am reviewing an 8# bag of Expert Grill Charcoal Briquets, Charcoal briquets. I have always been a fan of Kingsford products but I thought I would give this new brand a try to compare. I have to say I was impressed! They were ready in the fifteen minutes after lighting as advertizes on the bag. They gave off a nice barbeque style aroma and left no aftertaste on what I was cooking. I would recomend these to anyone.
I'm writing this review as part of giving my honest opinion of this product. I received a gift card to purchase this bag of "Expert Grill "Charcoal Briquets from Wal Mart. I read the reviews of those who used the Expert Grill "regular charcoal", having "good to bad" experiences, so I decided to grab the bag of "instant light charcoal" because I didn't want to dump a bunch of lighter fluid on regular charcoal. I have used "many brands" of charcoal and all have turned out good, it's just how, and how much to use and how to get the best fire to the charcoal. This "Expert Grill Instant Charcoal Briquets" did as all instant light charcoal does, starts immediately without using lighter fluid, and with this charcoal, I was ready to start grilling in 12-17 minutes. I prefer a good white ash knowing the charcoal is "fluid free" so there should be no after taste from the fluid that's in the charcoal. I turned my "gas grill" into a "charcoal grill" today by taking out the gas burners and used 2 aluminum pans filled with half of the bag of charcoal and it worked perfectly. This line of Expert Grill charcoal from Wal Mart is a great price compared to the other brands, and Expert Grill also has other charcoal briquettes with infused wood such as Apple, Mesquite, Hickory to Lump charcoal to regular charcoal as well as their lighter fluid. Our burgers turned out great with the great flavor of being grilled over charcoal. I will use this charcoal again because of price and quality and tell others of this product to give it a try. (by the way, our burgers were GREAT!!!!)
I must have the greatest grandson in all of Indiana! I was not feeling well, and feeling the blues totally. My 17 year old grandson made me lunch, using my new bag of Expert Grill Charcoal. He cooked it in the fire pit. It took a bit of extra umph because the pit is open, but it took off, and the aroma was amazing, even before the meat went on the grill. He did not use too many briquets, but enough to make an even spread. After he cooked the briquets were still pleanty hot enough to cook hot dogs too! Expert Grill Charcoal is budget priced, but not budget performance. It lit up with only limited effort. It stayed hot throughout our cooking effort (a bit under an hour.) Heat was consistent, aromatics dynamic, yet we used only a small amount of briquets. I fully recommend to friends and family. My blues are gone!
I got an 8lbs bag of expert grill charcoal brisquets. It doesn't last as long as the "name" brand but it does the same great job. Lights up pretty easily and no annoying smells which is a plus. In my opinion it is a great value for the price, I would highly recommend.
these don’t burn that hot, it takes a lot to get your grill well heated. i used more than half the bag and it was barely strong enough to cook some brats sausages.
Would NOT recommend! I don't know if we had a bad batch or what but it did not light right %26 When it finally lit it did not stay lit. Very disappointing!
I wasn't impressed at all with Expert briquettes. They have a lot of impurities in them that I hope you can see in the pictures. I put a 11/2 pounds of the Kingsford on the left side and the 11/2 pounds of the Expert briquettes on the right side and used a 1/4 cup of lighter fluid on each. I was cooking on the Kingsford at least 20 minutes sooner than the Expert and the Kingsford got yellow hot while the Expert only got to the color of orange. I don't know the temperature but I used to do some blacksmithing and yellow heat is hotter than orange. The Expert briquettes are not compressed as tight as Kingsford and there are more broken ones in the Expert bag than the Kingsford. Henry Ford had the right idea back then and they are still the superior briquettes today.
I would not buy these I would not recommend. They do not light or heat up in 15 mins. It took over an hour and really was not hot enough to cook. It did not get a flame either. At first I thought I was doing something wrong but even with lighter fluid, it just wouldnt get hot enough to cook. I ended up cooking the chicken in the oven. Not worth it
When I tried Expert Grill Charcoal Apple Briquets, Charcoal Briquettes, 8 Lb, a few weeks ago, I thought it was the worst charcoal I've ever used. However, after trying to cook 14 hamburgers with Expert Grill Charcoal Briquets, Charcoal Briquettes, 8 Lb, I have found the winner of the Absolute Worst Charcoal I've ever used. I used over 16 oz. of Expert Grill's lighter fluid trying to keep this charcoal lit. I had to go inside and fry the hamburgers in a frying pan because of this horrible charcoal. I wasted over an hour and a half before I gave up with trying to keep it lit. What a waste of time! IF you want to grill anything, don't buy this charcoal.
