Very Versatile

MissAuntElaine June 1, 2015

Anyone who has ever used a laminator for business purposes, craft projects, or just for fun knows that these little machines provide a great service. The Fellowes Jupiter2 125 Advanced Laminator is certainly one of the better ones on the market. It passed every test it was put through with the proverbial flying colors. As with any new product, the instructions should be read very carefully before using this machine. It is heavier and sturdier than most laminators, and there are some safety precautions for using the machine. For instance, it does get hot during use, and one should follow the steps for allowing the machine to cool down. (It does not get dangerously hot, but care should be taken.) Too, the machine needs to be cleaned to prevent the buildup of plastic after twenty or so uses, sometimes more often, but this is easy to do. The packet of material that comes with the machine includes a cleaning sheet. The instructions are clear on all of this. Again, READ THEM! The replacement laminating sheets and other laminating products for this Fellowes Machine were ordered from Walmart at very reasonable prices, and this one little machine made everything from laminated menus, keepsakes, poems, and so ON! It laminated business cards, favorite jokes, bookmarks, and even refrigerator magnets, using craft magnets. While it creates a world of delightful things and protects so many documents, etc., the best thing about this laminator is that it truly is ADVANCED. Again, it is a heavy, dependable item, is well built, sturdy, and appears to be one that, given proper care, will last for many years.

Really good laminator.

BigAl21701 April 28, 2015

Many times the claims of the company about the pros of their products do not match the reality of what you get. This is not one of those times. When they claim it takes only 60 seconds to warm up, it really only takes 60 seconds. When they say it automatically adjusts for thickness, it really does. I have not had any issues at all but so far we have only used it to make homemade flash cards and laminate some art work. However, I do not foresee any problems doing any other kind of work in the future. This is easy, simple and quick. What more could you ask for.

A Gem Of A Laminator

valueme2 March 25, 2015

I've wanted a laminator for quite some time and when I selected this particular one, I have to say I am very happy with it. It took me a bit to fully understand how to operate it, even after reading directions, but once I realized that the controls are sensitive to just a slight touch and you don't push on them like I originally tried, well then I had no problems getting it going. The space you need to operate this is approximately 22” x 22” or so. You need the clearance in the back for when the item is coming through the laminator. I set it up on my kitchen table to use but will keep in on a bookcase when not in use. It's a really quick start so there is just a minute or less to warm it up. The items I did laminate did come out with a very, very slight curl at one end but nothing that hinders anything. I will be purchasing some of the thicker laminator pouches for things that I will post out doors. I found Fellowes Glossy Pouches - Letter, 10 mil, 50 pack - Letter - 9" Width x 11.50" Length x 10 mil Thickness at walmart.com for a good price. Note that 10 mil (250 microns) is the thickest laminating pouch you can use with this laminator. Overall I'm sure I'll find lots of uses for this little gem from creating bookmarks and signs to preserving pictures and documents.

does hot AND cold laminating!

mommyofet March 29, 2015

This laminator is pretty cool. I thought this was going to be hard to use. I'm pretty good with computers so I always wanted one to laminate stuff so I can reuse it over and over again without worry it will get damaged. The laminator came in a the box it was shipped in, so opening it up the box its the product. thats okay its the perfect box for it. It does come with 10 free laminating pouches so you can use right away. It also comes with a cleaning sheet that it says should be used first, and after you finish your laminating. I have to say I did feel overwhelmed when I looked at this machine, but I read the instructions and they are pretty easy to understand. The machine basically does everything for you. It automatically adjusts to the thickness of your paper. You just have to put your paper or item you want to laminate in the pouch and feed it through the machine, it does the rest. So easy! This machine does hot and cold laminating, so what that means is hot is what you do for basic things like in my picture i did a hot lamination of my daughters coloring book. this way i can use this over and over again for her. Now cold lamination is where you want to use it on ticket stubs, faxes, or photos, basically anything that is printed from ink jet printer. its cold laminating because then the ink will not smear passing through with high temperatures. It does take the machine like a minute to warm up, but that is nothing, it will beep when its ready. I checked and 100 pouches on another site are around 20-25 bucks not a bad deal. I can't express how cool and how easy this thing is to use, I'm very happy with this machine

Great Laminator!!

eyecandymena April 29, 2015

The Fellowes Jupiter2 125 Laminator is the nicest laminator I've ever used. In the past I paid to use the ones at some of the office supply stores and I was left with smoky looking projects, bubbles under the film, or simply just not a good seal around the edges. I've paid the office store employees to do them for me, and they came out great, but cost me an arm and a leg. This laminator is a small investment, but you'll get consistent perfect results every time. You simply turn it on and it heats up in under a minute. When it is ready, you simply slide your project in, and it comes out the other side perfectly sealed. We are not in an office setting. We strictly use ours for hobby purposes and the occasional laminating of recipes, school line cards, etc. It can only go as wide as 12.5 inches, so if you are wanting larger, then this may not be the laminator for you. This wasn't a huge deal for us, because we hardly ever have anything that large to laminate anyway. If you only use your laminator on rare occasions, say a couple of times a year for smaller projects, you may be smarter to get the cheaper Scotch one, but if you want high quality results and use yours more often, this is a great pick. I've used the pouches that came with this one, office store brand pouches, and Scotch brand pouches and all gave me great results, so you aren't limited to the most pricey pouches with this machine either. The machine comes with starter pouches. I recommend this laminator, it's well worth the price.

Excellent personal laminator

MACKIESON April 20, 2015

Retired from working in the public school system, I am very familiar with laminating machines. However, during my era, there were the bulky ones that took forever to heat up and where you had to stand on the opposite end of the machine to ensure the paper came out smooth and your item(s) that were being laminated were not wrinkled or gotten torn in the machine. Obviously, this was very cumbersome and time consuming. The Fellowes Jupiter2 125 is a breeze and a pleasure to use. It takes maybe a few minutes for the machine to heat up fully before use. You place your items in the pouches and put it through the machine. Obviously, you don't want to use it for major or large jobs. For personal use, this machine should exceed your expectations. It doesn't make any bubbles or air pockets (due in part to the pouches). The machine is also cool to the touch—unlike its predecessors. The machine also has a safety feature which shuts it off to prevent overheating. I would definitely recommend this for the home office or home in general to preserve those important mementoes (i.e. photos, recipe cards, certificates, etc.).

Great Laminator for Office

rlee411 April 29, 2015

This is a wonderful laminator that is very professional and convenient. It has many features such as AutoSense, Reverse function, Sleep Mode function, Heat Guard Technology, and a Auto Hot/Cold Function. The AutoSense feature detects the pouches thickness and self adjusts. The Reverse Function will reverse the laminating sheet and eject the pouch from the machine. The Sleep Mode Function will put the machine into standby mode after 30 minutes of inactivity. The Heat Guard Technology keeps the surface of the laminator able to be touched comfortably. The Auto Hot/Cold can be used to switch back and forth between hot and cold laminating. The laminator is excellent. I have laminated a few old pictures and some important documents and they turned out great. They look very professional. The laminator was also very easy to use. The only downside to it is that it is quite large, heavy and is better suited for a business office than someone's small personal office. It is well worth the money!

Easy, Fast, Clear & Gets the Job Done Every Time!

kccollinz May 18, 2015

Laminators are one of those products that you do not realize how much you will you use it until you have it. Things like mportant documents, maps, bookmarks, a family recipe book, signs, posters, calendars, reports, business cards and so much more. The Fellowes Jupiter2 Laminator is perfect for the home user and small office. Turn it on, wait for about a minute (a light indicates when ready), select hot or cold pouch, because the Jupiter2 can handle both! Insert your item in the pouch, place your item into the mouth and let the Jupiter2 do the rest. It could not be easier to get a crystal clear and perfect job every time. My favorite feature is the AutoSense, it self-adjusts to accommodate your pouches thickness. No fuss, no muss and no forgetting to change settings. Indicator lights let you know exactly what process the laminator is going through. There is a reverse feature that lets you back the document out, in case a jam should ever occur (so far no jams yet :). You do not have to worry about burning yourself, as another feature is a "Heatguard Technology," that keeps laminator from accidentally burning oneself. Directions on how to use the laminator are included, but really not needed, sample packet with 10 pouches, and an exit tray to catch the freshly laminated pages. It also keeps the pages from bending. So far I have not had any problems with the ends curling. I could not be happier with this piece of equipment I never thought that I would have much use for. This is a sturdy piece of machinery that is built to last. And I look forward to many years of use. The Jupiter2 takes up a fair bit of room. You'll need about about a 2'x2' space, plus more work space, so it takes up valuable real estate in a small home office. However, it has a built-in handle that makes it easy to put up & store…the only thing is you'll find so many new projects to use it with that you won't get a chance to put it into storage.

Fellowes Laminator

Jannelee May 2, 2015

I've used many laminators. This is a very sleek straight forward design. What surprised me was there is no need for the protective carrier for the pouches. I was a bit skeptical but it works fine and I like not having to have the carrier for it. They were always wearing and sometimes getting the laminate material in them was a chore. This works. It heats quickly and runs smoothly, quietly and quickly. And it has a cold lamination process! I have not tried that yet, the instructions were a bit vague on it so I will look on the site. I have so far laminated several cards and an 8.5 x 11 using the supplies that came with it altho it will do thicker sizes. Not a ripple, they came out beautifully. It auto-detects thickness so it will adjust to it. This has a large opening with measurements for different sizes of materials. so far, I'm impressed!

Bigger than expected

OaklandNative April 25, 2015

I received this Fellowes Jupiter2 Laminator last week. It was a little bigger than I expected, however, after rearranging my desk, I was able to fit it well. I love the design, as it can blend in with any decor, and it is very easy to use. I can not speak on durability just yet, but i'm sure if I take care of it and clean it as needed, it is sure to last quite a while. Now on to my review pertaining to the actual product and the quality of the job. When I first plugged the laminator in and touched the "on" button, I noticed that the machine stays on continuously until the machine in turned off from the back. I noticed a hot smell coming from it as I prepared my next sheet for lamination. I recommend turning the machine off in-between jobs, or making sure that you are ready with everything in it's pouches ready to laminate to avoid this. I first laminated a business i.d badge, which did not come out so well. The edges glued together well, however, the plastic did not stick well to the badge. Next, I laminated a plain sign that I printed on an 8x11 paper; this worked extremely well. This is my first time working with a laminator, so I have nothing to compare it with, but so far, I love it. Now I just need to purchase more pouches, and I saw that Walmart also sells the pouches for business cards, so that will be next. Overall, great product!
