I like the size of the handle and the blades. I have small hands and the handles fit really well. the blades are really good for cutting out details. super sharp! love the pointed tips! I'm sure the color is for branding purposes, but I wish they were black and blue instead of orange and grey. but honestly, that makes them super easy to find in my craft mess!
I made 2 rag quilts , 29 bowl cozies and 11 eyeglass cases for Christmas gifts in the months of November and December. I bought the scissors with the rag quilts particularly in mind . The 5" micro tip scissors worked perfectly for the ragging part of my quilts. Made this shore much easier ! I chain -stitched all the bowl cozies and the scissors worked great when separating the bowls . I would definitely recommend these scissors for sewing or any craft , with adult supervision because they are sharp.
These are a Godsend! If you have any issues with using your hands (and even if you don't) these are the scissors for you!! They are easy actuon so you do not have to motion them open/closed they sprong open as you use them. They are amazingly sharp, actually extremely sharp %26 the tip is as well so be careful with them too. I love these scissors and will swear by them as long as they are around. They also come in a garden shears style, so you can have your handy inside/project set and your pruning/garden set. There are also a few different styles of them now too,, they are all great!!
This set of scissors were used to build a costume starting with shaving down a foam head. Yes, I said shaving down a foam head which if you have ever done this you know how hard this can be as it takes many small shavings/cuts. They held up well minus the blades can chip easy and for that I have to take away one star as for the price you should be able to change out blades and to this point we have not figured out how to do so. This is set 2 which is why I am stating money wise they could be a little cheaper as they seem to be a throw away upon a small chip.
I enjoy using all Fiskars tools, and have many...As a fellow Finn, I like to support a company that makes useful, well made items/tools. Thank you for offering them!
My usual default option for yarn-snipping scissors are the cheap pointed-tip children's scissors in the school supplies aisle at my local Walmart, which are OK, but not very sharp, so my yarn ends often look a bit raggedy from multiple snip attempts with cheap, dull kid's scissors. Therefore, I was looking forward to something specifically intended for cutting yarn and fabric, especially since the Fiskars Easy Action Micro-Tip Scissors were described as being ergonomic, too. I didn't bother reading most of the instructions on the back of the blister-pack packaging of these Fiskars scissors, although I did notice an advisory on the front that these were NOT intended for cutting paper (which would dull nice scissors like these). I immediately started using the Fiskars scissors to cut the yarn as I finished each granny square in a current crochet afghan project (as well as for trimming poking-out bits of yarn ends from previous rounds). They worked great! One slides down a grey clasp in the middle, which releases the 2 handles (just like a pair of kitchen tongs), gently squeezes the 2 handles (very little hand strength required), and then slides the clasp back up when one is done cutting. (I did learn the hard way that, if one leaves these scissors lying open for several hours, it becomes rather tricky to get the scissors closed again; sliding the clasp up and down while the scissors are open seems to loosen it enough so that it works again when the handles are squeezed shut again, though.) To test the Fiskars scissors' performance on fabric and thread, I grabbed a couple of rags (repurposed worn-out clothes) from a kitchen drawer. I was easily able to snip through elastic, leg hems and fabric on an old pair of my spouse's cotton knit briefs. I then tried cutting through various bits of a stained-beyond-salvaging men's dress shirt. I had no problems snipping through the fabric, the thin bottom hem, or even the corner of the collar (with built-in flat plastic "boning" inside the fabric to keep the collar corners stiff and pointy). Slightly more effort was required to cut into the buttonhole placket (something one might have to do while making buttonholes) or the cuffs. The trickiest bit was snipping off one of the spare buttons sewn on towards the bottom of one edge of the shirt; however, 2 snips sufficed to snip all of the thread holding the button on, with far more precision than a large pair of fabric shears, and much more neatly than a seam ripper would have done. The short blades on these scissors mean that you will still want to use your fabric shears or cutting wheel to most large-scale fabric cutting, and you may struggle a bit trying to snip through super-bulky or jumbo yarns. The very sharp blades also mean that you will only have children using these under close adult supervision -- and teenagers should demonstrate adult levels of carefulness with precision tools before being gifted their own pair. Bearing those points in mind, however, the comfortable handle grips and the minimal hand strength required for use make these Fiskars Easy Action Micro-Tip Scissors a great ergonomic choice for crafters striving to preserve hand health and extend their enjoyment of favorite crafts. Highly recommended!
The Fiskars Easy Action 5 Micro-Tip Scissors are a great tool in the sewing room and the laundry room. They are very sharp and easy to use. In the sewing room, they cut threads and fabrics (I used mine to remove fraying from a towel) and in the laundry, they are small enough to keep in a small sewing kit for those stray threads on shirts and pants.
These are awesome little scissors. I am currently reupholstering a chair as well as making cushion covers for a set of outdoor furniture. These snips are super handy. They are really sharp, they fit really well in your hand (I have bad arthritis) and they can snip all those tiny threads and pieces where regular scissors get big and clunky. I personally would not cut out patterns or anything like that, simply because of the state of my hands, but these are definitely sharp enough and could easily cut out patterns if you wanted to. The grip fits in the nooks of your hand really well and make it really easy to squeeze the handles which move smoothly and very easily. The only small scissors I own are embroidery scissors which are good for threads and not much else. These take the size of those but take it up to a much higher level. These are sturdy, strong and I am very pleased with them. I have tried them on just about every type of material from canvas, denim, upholstery, duck cloth, silk, flannel, fleece, batting and even sherpa. They worked like a charm. They will be in my everyday box. Another bonus is they have a little tab to slide and lock them shut. The only thing that would make them even better is if they had a little something to slide over the tip while not being used. The tip is pretty pointed so a cover would be nice to protect the point as well other stuff being housed nearby from getting poked. Just a suggestion. Overall, I love them.
Great scissors they are great for many things ,lol pot, fabric cutting hair. or whatever been buying these for 32 yrs.
The tip of of the product doesn't really cut. And when it sits locked, the tip does not close all the way. I think there is a fault with the spring. otherwise the rest of the scissors navigates well.
