I keep several of these kits around for emergencies. I manage rentals, and toilets always seem to break after normal store hours. I haven't found a toilet they won't work on. And they have a purge function to get line debris out that others don't. Get one just in case!
I would recomend this product to everyone and the shipping service was as expected fast and secure for no damage to product inside.
Great kit, has everything in it you need to totally replace the stuff in your old toilet. Easy to do, an average Joe with a few tools can do this no problem.
We have old toilets so I was afraid it would not fit after I took the toilet apart mind you am a girl and this was my first time doing this like They said the directions are not the best so I got on YouTube and I was able to fix it and it flushes better than it ever has so we are buying another unit for our other bathroom
I bought this complete kit to replace my old one which was all rusty (floating ball rode and nuts) so I wanted to replace everything brand new. I ran into an issue with this kit as the flush valve shank washer was leaking. I uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure the locknut was tight but same problem. Then, I left just enough water below the flapper to make sure the leak wasn't from the flapper. It was coming from the area of the shank washer. Either the washer was defective or the flush valve had a small crack I couldn't see. I have changed toilet kits many times and never had issues with leaks. I called Fluidmaster about my issue and they sent me a replacement flush valve kit. I replaced it and no leaks! I am very happy for the excellent customer service I received and I will be buying another complete kit for my other toilet.
Not sure that I chose the right model for my toilet, but I decided to use it anyway. The instructions were clear and easy to understand as well as being very complete. I was able to extract my old unit and replace it with this with some difficulty but that is to be expected. When installed the system worked the same as my old one, except without leaking.
It's only been a few days since installation but seems to be working well. Note that you may need to purchase extra parts for specific toilet brands. I had to purchase a separate triangle tank gasket because I have a Kohler toilet and this package does not provide that. Otherwise, clear instructions and relatively easy to self-install.
I read the review from earlier in 2012 but the only repair kit Walmart had in stock was Fluidmaster, so I bought it anyway. I also had a problem but I was able to isolate the problem and find a work-around. I was getting ghost flushing and I could see from looking at the surface of the water in the bowl that there was water slowly flowing into the bowl even when the toilet was not flushing. When I reduced the water level in the tank to below the level of the flapper the flow still continued. I found that the problem was that the shank washer that seals the bottom of the housing that the flapper sits on to the inside-bottom surface of the tank was not thick enough. I sprayed the surface of the seal that contacts the flapper housing with automotive spray undercoating to form the equivalent of a thin gasket, let it dry somewhat and then re-assembled it. I did this to build up the effective thickness of the shank seal. When I mounted the whole flush valve assembly to the tank by tightening the shank nut I was very careful to keep the bevel of the shank seal centered in the mounting whole. This fixed the problem.
I've replaced the innards of several toilets over the years and never had any trouble doing so. This Fluidmaster kit, however, was a different story. Perhaps it is just me, but I found the instructions to be at times confusing. This had never been a problem for me in the past with other brands. Too, the whole replacement process just seemed more complicated than it had ever been in the past, again with other brands. This is the first time I have used Fluidmaster; I guess it is actually supposed to be a better brand than most, but I had trouble using it...oh, and for the first time ever, after I had installed the repair kit, the toilet did not flush properly regardless of whatever troubleshooting I tried as recommended by the instructions. I"m probably going to go elsewhere and get the brand I used to use, if I can find it.
Bought in Feb, 2021. In September stepped on carpet in master bedroom to find it soaking wet near the wall next to toilet. The “float” cup was well submerged but water was still going into the tank and leaking from the handle opening near the top of the tank (Thank goodness the fill rate was so slow) Had to pull a good portion of the carpet up and now running fans to dry.
