good quality
Having gone through a number of 12lb bags, it's been a while since I dared roast these due to supporting my air conditioners battle with the summer heat. Since the weather barely cooled down I found I had two 12lbs and went through them as fast as I could go.
I bought a variety of nuts, seeds and powders to make my own smoothies and hazelnuts were part of the purchase. The entire purchase was accurate, well priced and well packaged. The hazelnuts are clean and fresh, plus they are organic which is a non-negotiable for me when buying food. You will be pleased with your decision to purchase.
I was hesitant to purchase , since I bought some from another source quite a while ago and they were terrible. These are so fresh and delicious, I now realize the other ones had to be rancid ! Can't wait to try the recipe on this sight for hazelnut nutella YUM !!!!!!
This one pound bag roasts perfectly in 10-12 minutes. Removing skin is fairly easy.
I was happy with (and will re-order) 18 lbs of Organic Hazelnuts (arriving in two 9-lb separate packages, which puzzled me at first). The taste was good and the Food to Live sales staff have been quite responsive to my inquiries. One downside was that 1-2% of the nuts are entirely bad and 5-10% have observable bad spots. I routinely soak hazelnuts overnight in salt water (to improve their digestibility), slice them in half, and examine them before eating, all of which facilitate identifying and removing bad nuts. I will continue ordering this product.
As far back as I can remember, my grandmother used to use hazelnuts in her brownies. But these hazelnuts taste different from just even a while ago. I think I'll try something different next time.
I loved my other nuts, but perhaps I didn't get the best batch of hazelnuts. A few were rotten (ick!), and the others just didn't taste quite up to snuff, compared with other organic hazelnuts I've eaten. I won't buy these here again, though I was happy with my other nuts!
I've ordered several different varieties of nuts from "Food to Live". The 4 pound bag of Hazelnuts was not the quality of the previous nuts I've ordered. My family eats a lot of nuts and no one will eat these. What a disappointment!
The nuts arrived in a sealed bag. No damage to the packaging. Unfortunately the hazelnuts tasted rancid. I will never order hazelnuts from that company.
