they worked exactly how i needed them to work.
The adhesive is very strong.
Summer's been hot this year and my window air conditioning unit is getting to be several years old. It still blows cold but some of the window insulation foam and the plastic side pieces have just worn out and are no longer in good condition. These panels from Fram Trak worked well for replacing my aged vinyl panels that came with the unit. They're a universal fit and should fit tall and short units. You get 2 panels in the package that you have to trim the height of to fit your unit's height. The pieces themselves I think are vinyl or some sort of plastic that seem to be stretchy enough to flex from the AC unit to most normal residential window sizes. I like the 3M branded double sided sticky tape which I know is good stuff. I got the cloud gray but if I had to do it again would probably get white to match the AC and reflect more sunlight. This still works and would work fine if you had grey siding or a gray AC unit. I'm not completely sure if this holds out the heat better than others, but it feels about the same as when I originally brought home my AC. I cover it up with curtains regardless to help insulate because no thin plastic or vinyl can keep heat out very well. Overall these are great replacement panels if you need some.
These panels are really nice and they look good. Way better than the panels I was using. My old custom panels were installed with duct tape. Which looks horrible. The adhesive is a foam seal that will keep all the elements out. Just peel and stick. I see this product retails for around $16 which seems a little high for what they are. if I install another AC unit I will definitely purchase these. Makes the job much easier
My son is so hot natured. He insists on having a window unit air conditioner in his room. He picked up a used one and stuck it in his window. He desperately needed these side panels as he had cardboard up beside his ac. It looked awful. These ac panels were so easy to use. You just cut them to size, if need be. Then peel the paper off the adhesive and stick in place. The tape really sticks and holds tight. We got in a rush and ours are a bit crooked but they still look good. Now we just need to clean the ac and blinds. With these new white panels, they're really showing their age, and dust. I highly recommend the Fram Trak side panels. They do their job and they couldn't be easier to install.
I like to replace my power sucker upper bulbs with LEDs to save money. These are great. Seems bright for 500 lumens. The yearly energy cost is $0.84. I think I can afford that. It's shatter resistant but I don't plan to test it to see what that means and I hope I never learn. It's supposed to last 22 years. I've never actually had any bulb last as long as they say. By the time this one wears out I hope to have moved from here so I will never have proof of that. They are a nice soft white rather than that almost blue white. I am happy with these bulbs. I use them in my string type lights. MR 16 if that means anything to you.
I just got these to use to extend our window air conditioner in our garage. It looks so much better than cardboard! It adheres with pretty strong "stickies". Can also be used if your panels are broken or beat up. I didn't have to trim mine, but it seems easy enough to trim.
I really like this product.I had ripped my panel on my 8000 btu ac a while back and just taped it but this is a big improvement. The panel is made of pretty thick material and should keep the heat from bleeding through and making your ac work harder. It was easy to cut to size but be careful not to cut it too short. This pretty much went to gether perfectly and quite easy and i am really happy with it. It took me maybe 5 minutes tops to put this on and now it's like new again.
The white panels which came with my little window ac permitted light into my bedroom. I like a dark room for a better rest. The black fabric gave me a better blackout effect. Very easily installed! Clear, simple instructions with images help make it easy.
I was surprised to find this is made of rubbery plastic material instead of woven paper like I expected. I'm sure it's more durable but it stinks. It was also not wide enough for my window. Measure carefully before buying. I did what I could with it and hopefully the sticky stuff holding it onto window doesn't melt in the summer sun. I can see this rubber material getting very hot. I chose black thinking it'd block more sunlight to keep room cooler. But had I known it was thick rubber I'd pick white.
