Works great, easy to install, holds up to 80 lbs. My unit is a 10000 BTU and the bracket is mounted into a double hung window and the exterior of my house is vinyl.
I never purchased one before, the set up was easy. The materials are are of the highest grade. I would not consider buying any other brand. It'll last for years
Easy to install, came with complete hardware for different standard window configurations. Simple design, sturdy, well constructed. I found it here on walmart site to store, for better price.
I wanted to mount a small AC into the window of my motorhome and I've settled upon this one after much research. It's very well-made, high-quality, and I am very happy with the way it is constructed. It supports my air conditioner no problem. It even comes with a level bubble so I was able to get the proper drip angle. For the price I think you'll be very happy with this unit .
The support was easy to put together, instructions were clear. A lot of the adjustment pieces were not needed on my fairly new casement window installation. Supports the 70lb air conditioner very well taking the load off of the window itself. Would recommend this support bracket to anyone using a large air conditioner in their window.
The device installs easily and there are many videos, including some from Frost King, about how to install this. That does not mean that the directions included are not correct, they are fine, yet nothing beats seeing how it is "really" done.
It holds the air conditioner in place in the window. But had to add a 2"x 2" board on the outside exterior wall to get the right angle on the bracket, and a small board under the air conditioner on the inside, on the window sill.
Worked as expected! I really enjoyed that there was a variety of fit options and parts to raise/lower the bracket while remaining sturdy. I probably didn't need it but of course by law I had to have one. Minus one star because I think they could sell these for cheaper. It's really not a complicated part and I'm surprised it was over $20.
Could not use window AC even with the support. Have newly installed vinyl window with a high lip. AC support installed easily but AC could not be installed due to design of window.
The unit came as a top budget pick by the Wirecutter service of New York Times. The drilling and instructions were straightforward, but I would not recommend it to a friend. It feels unstable and required doing each step 3-4 times until it seemed reasonable. In fact I bought two brackets for two rooms, but plan to return one I didn't use and replace it with a TOP SHELF bracket. To be fair, the top shelf bracket costs 5 times as much. It doesn't work with storm windows, despite 3 plastic blocks that adjust the height. I had to decide whether to remove the storm window or build 2-3 inches of space in a window sill with wooden blocks. Both are annoying options. I removed the storm window. Unlike the no-drill brackets that split the weight of the AC between three metal bracket parts, this one has just one bar. AC felt wobbly and held mostly by the window. Is this better than no bracket at all? The instructions are decent and the unit comes with a level bubble that helps set the angle right. However, under the weight of the AC and the window the angle changes and I had to un-wrench and adjust the wall holding part to make it angle down more. Finally, the ACs are un-centered. I used a Friedrich Chill unit that had a slope at the bottom and was left heavy. The instruction suggested to place the bracket 3 inches to the heavy side. This was 1 or 2 inches too far from the center of mass and I had to adjust the bracket (with more drilling).
