this is the perfect size for my small apartment. I was looking for something small and compact that would would be energy efficient for the heat of the Midwest summers. With the affordable price and shipping options with it the the unit I couldn't have gone wrong.
Reading through the reviews I was not sure on this one, and living in the south I wanted to give it a test this summer. I am happy to say this unit works very well. My handyman installed it in about 30 minutes and has never put in a window unit before, and said it was easy. This unit has a sleek design and a nice remote feature that provides you the room temperature. There is an eco setting, so it will turn off like a thermostat once the room reaches that temp. However if you want the room freezing like me, just turn off the eco button on the remote and it will not shut off. I put this in a small bedroom 12x12 with vaulted ceilings and it works perfect. Also ensure the filter is changed when the red light comes on. To do that just open the front with the groves on each side, pull out the filter, wash in the sink and let dry then slide it back in (photo of the filter below). Also, I have central air, but this one room was very hot. My electric bill has not increased at all from running this unit quite often. I am very happy with this purchase and it is a great choice!
Amazing air conditioner. Cools my whole apartment as if I had central air. I love it! The installation was hard and we eventually needed to get our super to drill some stuff for us.
We replaced a five year old, nearly identical, Frigidaire 15,000 BTU unit. They made this newer model quieter and upgraded the remote functions. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants the largest 110-115 volt available without the need to have an electrician upgrade to 220-230 volt service.
It came with some small dents. I must say as a woman don't ever say you can't do it yourself. Don't get me wrong this bad fella is heavier than a son of a gun. Yes, I pick it up and put it in the window myself. I thought it was going to be to big for my window. The one thing I didn't like is the fact you have to take it apart other then that if you can see the pictures then you know this bad fella is alright with me.
Our 20 year old AC stopped working to it's normal potential, during the hottest week of the year (of course), so I wanted to upgrade from a 12,000BTU to a 15,000. I am very impressed with this one. I have never even had to have the fan on high, as it is soooo powerful, and we're in 80-90 degree weather right now. I am very impressed.
okay, SO, we previously had a 12000 btu ac. it just was not doing the job anymore for our downstairs (dining room, living room, kitchen) so we purchased this 15000. I didn't measure the window cause I was like "nah, itll be fine." so we received it. read the install instructions. and proceeded to take all day trying to install it. Thank God for this man on YouTube. seriously, the tiny pictures just don't make it easy. but after installing it, which we had to cut a few corners lol. it would only fit in our window without the pull side things. anyways, its in. it works. and it does a fantastic job of cooling our main area.
So far, I'm very pleased with this unit. I put this unit in the window of a small room of my house about a month ago. There have been a couple of unseasonably hot days and the unit has performed extremely well so far. It's small and reasonably quiet.
Unit is aesthetically pleasing. Beware, this is not a directly from box to window AC. With a unit of this size, you must take the AC out of its outer casing before installing it in the window, which I did not know at the time of purchase. This required me to enlist the help of my teenage son. The unit efficiently cools my living room, kitchen, and hallway, which are open spaces (no doors) and approximately 650 square feet. I chose this unit because it has one of the lowest decibels in my price range. The unit comes with two white/light grey insulation panels, which you install over the accordion sides. This gives a sleeker look. I don't do well with bugs so I used clear packing tape around the unit and even over the insulation panels as well. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase.
Purchased and arrived with dent and crack. Returned for replacement which took almost a month because they don't ship out the new one until the old one is returned. Got the new one and immediately saw a small crack in almost the same area but decided to try and live with it, it's getting hot outside. Person came back to install it and found an even larger dent than the first one. Returning for refund this time. A shame, I really wanted this unit and will have to pay more for one locally but they need better protection during shipping. It's super big and heavy and I'm sure it gets dragged and tossed around a lot. I wonder if anyone has ever received one that wasn't beaten to a pulp.
