Gaiam Chakra Yoga Mat, 4mm, Lightweight, Non-Slip, Eco-Friendly

this is a quality yoga mat. since I bought it and got compliments, two more yoga students have bought the same mat.

After teaching yoga classes 5x/week for the last 5 years, I've come to know Gaiam mats as the ones that are the longest lasting and most durable. I've purchased other brands in the past, and they wear out very quickly and don't last like the Gaiam ones do. As a matter of fact, I taught on one Gaiam mat for 2 years and was ready for a new one - only because I was ready for a new color. So, I "retired" that mat as one my students could use when they forgot their mat, and it's still holding up beautifully 3 years later. I recommend Gaiam mats to my students all the time and will never by another brand for myself. I love my latest mat - purple with the Chakra symbols. Makes me happy every time I roll it out!

After buying a mat at a extremely large chain that I won't name (rhymes with Bal-Tart), I was disturbed to read a warning label that said: "This product contains one or more chemicals known to cause cancer and reproductive problems." I immediately took it back and came to gaiam.com. I love this mat! The design is beautiful, it has just the right amount of grip and feels good under my toes! AND it's safe :)

Very thin padding and after few days of using for Yoga it became slippery. The color and design is nice!

This mat is perfect if you don't have joint problems since it's a little thin (to be expected of 3mm mats), it has a beautiful print and it didn't smell bad after airing it out for 10 minutes. The price is also great for what you're getting out of this. Would definitely reccommend this if you want a good mat on a budget

I had been wanting this mat for well over a year and finally made the purchase. So excited! Ordering & shipping was fast and easy but when I received the product, I was sad. The design and coloring are beautiful and perfect, but the length and thickness was very disappointing. I somehow was under the impression 3mm was thicker, as I thought my old, gifted mat was that. I suppose my old one is a 5 or 7mm and is way longer. I should've known better and taken 3mm as literal thickness. Duh. The length was very disappointing for my tall stature. I'm 5'10". This mat would be absolutely perfect if made thicker and definitely longer! Guess I'll still be using my old mat. *Sigh* :( Thank you anyway.

I bought this mat because my old one was becoming well worn, and I thought the design was pretty. However, I have now used it twice and I was actually quite disappointed. I brought this mat to class at my yoga studio, and it was VERY slippery. My hands kept sliding every time I did down dog... VERY frustrating. After that, I tried wiping the mat down with spray cleaner and paper towels. Brought the mat to yoga class again... No better!!! So then I literally put the mat in my bathtub and thoroughly washed it with dish detergent and a sponge, then hung it up to dry. I figure there must be some oils on it or something, and I wanted to wash off whatever it is. I tried it after that and it was somewhat better. I just think I shouldn't have had to go through all this. Next time I'd try a different type of mat.

The mat looks good but it doesn't hold up to even my beginner yoga practice. The grip is sized too large and doesn't provide any stabilization in downward dog. It's great for restorative poses and anything where you will not need your hands for support - but unfortunately that limits a lot of the great yoga poses. This is my very first personal mat and I have never had problems with grip with the studio mats I have used thus far. Unfortunately, I will not be buying yoga mats from Gaiam again - but their other products have been great for me (blocks and strap). 

The product is not good

Somewhat slippery when dry. Once I started sweating it was unusable. No traction at all, like ice, or a big banana peel. I sat out the class after about 30 minutes. Very disappointed. I'll put a towel on it next class, but I bought it for the visual design, so that defeats the purpose.
