Does exactly what I hoped it would

Xanteroth April 17, 2014

Firstly, Walmart had the best price. I searched many online sources. Walmart's price was the lowest by a good margin. I purchased the owl to keep birds off my back lawn after putting new seed down. It works, but some birds are savvy and you must (as the directions suggest) change positions periodically if you wish to KEEP them away. Bottom line: It works. Good construction and offers the option of removing a plastic cap in the base so sand (or other material) can be put inside to weigh it down (and keep it in place) in heavy winds. The head rotates with light wind, and again, it does the job. I'm 100% satisfied. Walmart makes it easy to order online and pickup in store. Couldn't be simpler.

Well worth it

beeeeeee June 29, 2014

I order many things online so I don't have time to review everything I purchase - but this owl deserves a kudos. Walmart had the absolute best price I could find online and this one seemed to have the best ratings because of the realistic eyes and swivel head. For the last six years or so our blueberries have been decimated by birds after the first week of ripening. Our dogs bark at them incessantly, but to no avail. The birds just land on our backyard shed and treat the bushes as a buffet. We placed the owl on a post attached to our shed. We were on vacation for the ripening and were not sure of a good result, since we weren't here to move the owl's location every few days. No problem though! We came back to several quarts of blueberries and no bird damage. The owl has actually caused me more work, because I will be picking berries for much longer this season.

Incredibly life-like owl decoy/scarecrow!

GatorGazer May 26, 2014

This owl decoy/scarecrow is AMAZINGLY realistic looking, even without its bobbing head. But, having its head bob in the wind? Wow. It actually startled me a few times until I got acclimated to it. Despite a backyard full of little tweeting birds as well as a canal full of BIG birds of all kinds, I have had almost NO bird "mess" on the pontoon boat I parked in the canal behind my house. Can't really make a before/after comparison, because I bought this owl immediately upon acquiring my boat. However, another thing that has pleased me is that it has NOT chased all of the birds away from my whole backyard. I was afraid it would, and I really, really did NOT want that! I just didn't want birds "messing" on my pontoon boat. So far, it seems to be working. I do, however, move it around from day to day, which is recommended. Just hope nobody steals it, because it sure is desirable and I think it is well worth its price.

I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Scorpionfx May 8, 2013

This is the first time I've tried using a predatory bird in the yard. I had my doubts. However, this owl is doing a great job out there. I think the secret is his head movement. Without that, I don't think it would be as effective after a couple of days. But, with the head movement, it is very realistic. Evidently the live birds think so too as I haven't seen any of them anywhere around the owl. I have it sitting on our deck and so far no problems with birds trying to nest as well as no problems with the mess birds leave behind them if you get my meaning. I like watching birds as much as the next person, but I was tired of cleaning up after them. They make a real mess. Anyway, this owl works for me. I recommend it highly.

Squirrels tearing up gazebo netting

Curlsnj July 31, 2016

Since purchasing the owls there have been no more issues with the squirrels tearing up the gazebo netting. They really worked much better than expected.

Works as well as can be expected

OllieOwl July 12, 2016

We bought several to keep a band of Canadian geese from messing up our back yard. For a couple of days the geese stayed away, but then they returned. If we spend the time to relocate the decoys each day they seem to work better, but the geese are smart enough to eventually realize these decoys never attack them. There is a model without the moving head and we have one of those as well. Not sure the moving head feature adds any effectiveness.

Rotating head owl more life-like to critters

venus27125 June 24, 2016

I have a couple of the stationary head owls and they work o.k. The rotating head owl, I feel, is more life-like and seems to be deterring the birds and coyotes around my home from coming into the yard or garden area. Not sure why the price has jumped to over $30 when it was less than $19????

Looks good, moves easily

HootieOwl September 11, 2016

It does look like a live owl and I am moving it every 3 days or so. I also have the hooting one. Will not know if they will actually keep the rats out until the oranges start to ripen. It has not kept them out of the avocado tree where Hootie is.
