Fantastic Device! Exceeds ALL Expectations!

John November 7, 2022

After reading the other reviews, I was a little concerned about buying this laptop. But, at this price, I decided to jump in and give it a try anyway. Well, it was one of the BEST DECISIONS I've ever made! The workmanship on this laptop provides the most premium experience I've seen outside of Apple, the screen is on par or better than my ultra hi-def TV at this size, the processor is outpacing my i5 HP gaming laptop, and the form factor turns heads everywhere I take it. One of the people who asked me about this laptop thought it was a 1,000 dollar device - and he was blown away when I told him how much it cost. I'm not often completely blown away by products, but this laptop delivered leagues above my expectations! Gateway is now my no. 1 recommendation anytime someone asks me about buying a new computer or laptop.

For the price it is amazing

Andrew November 18, 2022

Technology has come a long way it used to be you had to buy close to the top of the line to get something decent but these days pretty cheap laptops and phones are actually pretty usable. Obviously you have some trade offs… This machine makes the right choices. The screen is bright and crisp and at 13” 1080 is a pretty good resolution. The keyboard is okay, at least it’s not mushy. Both the bottom of the computer and the back of the screen are made of metal, it looks nice and feels pretty good in the hand, albeit a little heavy. The screen is particularly heavy and will sometimes flip back if you move the machine around. Wifi connectivity is good with dual band wireless AC. Seems to be a 1x1 or 2x2 and speeds top out around 300mbps but it’s leaps better than some machines with single band wireless N from not too long ago. LTE connectivity is also good, popped in a SIM card and was up and running. Surprisingly 4gb of RAM is not a huge deal. Sticking with the built in Edge browser pages load quick even with multiple tabs. YouTube at 2k plays fine and so do videos with the built in media player and even the ARM version of VLC all with 30% or less CPU use. Battery life also appears to exceed 5 hours. Overall good value for $130. Obviously not intended for intense computing, and the speakers are junk - at least it has Bluetooth and a headphone jack.

Nice machine, no-go for virtualization/WSL

kriegspiel November 26, 2022

Surprisingly nice and well-put together machine, but the Snapdragon 850 SOC (CPU) in the machine does not seem to have the firmware upgrade to support Hyper-V/WSL.

Pros its Cheap. Cons its Cheap. (AKA Cheap, Cheap)

DaNo November 9, 2022

I was looking for a laptop that could use a sim for internet and for less than $150 with windows and office and this was the cheapest. The power adapter that came with it seemed cheap. It takes 2-3 hours to charge fully. Its possible to charge the notebook using usb c. Windows says a charge will last 8 hours. The 13 inch display is actually very decent with medium bezels. Its a laminated screen and I thought it the notebook had a touchscreen. Sadly it is a touchless screen. The notebook is thin. If I stuck apple logo on it, you could mistaken it for a macbook. Just dont open it. The keyboard is meh. Now that I think of it, I hate it. I will need to oil it or something. The mouse pad is poopoo too. (I'm used to a corporate dell notebook). It reminds me of acer keyboards and mouse pad. As for windows on the fancy snapdragon 3 year old processor, its nothing special. Its as snappy as a core i3 which isn't something to be too proud of. The boot time is less than 10 seconds and that's actually neato. I can use office. I feel like my only browser option is edge. Edge is not bad, but also not rad. If I had any weird usb accessories, there might be a high chance it wont work. For basic work stuff, mom and dad wont know the difference. Wifi works, but sometimes I get a error on the browser. I just refresh the page and continue on. Mobile internet works too. Plug in your sim and it works. There no need for a hotspot, because this notebook is the hotspot. If this was a normal laptop, I'd give it 3 stars. But, I need to add half a star for the mobile sim slot. Then add half a star for how cool this processor is on paper. Then minus 1 for the finicky processor. 3 Stars. Thats it for today.

A few flaws

Jordan March 1, 2023

The computer is great but theres a few flaws in it. 1 when I got it the computer was just really laggy. 2 the mouse pad randomly starts to mess up to the point where it pretty much isn't usable anymore. 3 the computer would shut off and it wouldn't even be an update it would just completely turn off. 4 the battery life isn't that good, it dies pretty quickly.

Eh

Myah November 21, 2022

Bought it specifically for work and it is was very glitchy on the first day. I looked up ways to fix that and had to delete apps that came on the computer. And it was still super glitchy. After that my touch pad was very weird. When I went to scroll over the cursor would jump around everywhere. Missed two days of work because of not being able to use the computer. Took it back hopefully the next one I get does not give me problems.

Just No

Nene April 15, 2023

It sucks. Ive been trying to give myself time to get use to it but it keeps crashing, the touchpad barely works, the screen is to heavy for the base so it will slowly lay itself flat. I had to buy a wiresless mouse. I haven't even had the opportunity to use this much because its frustrating. I went from using my laptop everyday to buying this and id rather go to the library to get things done now.
