GE 5,000 BTU, 115V Mechanical Window Air Conditioner, Covers up to 150 sq ft

I intentionally bought this air conditioner a little bigger than required for my bedroom so some air would seep into the hallway. After a full week of use, I really love this product's size, appearance and strenghth ... and remain amazed how easy it was to install (30m?).

This is the second GE 5000btu AC I've purchased from Walmart, not because the first one broke, but because I liked it so much. These are great units, they're relatively quite and cool very well. The summers are getting HOT, everyone should have a window unit AC and a generator in case the power goes out.

This window air conditioner you almost cannot hear run, it cools off a king size bedroom to the point of actually being cold and the installation only took about 15 to 20 minutes controls are simple and comes with everything to install in your window. I highly recommend this AC to someone needing one

I am so happy I purchased this air conditioner! It was so hot where I stay since the sun is mostly on that side of the house. This A.C was easy to install %26 cooled my entire space to a comfortable temperature within about an hour. I use this A.C along with a window balancing bracket,foam panels to keep hot air out, weather strips %26 insulating tape. Works wonderfully %26 worth it. No more waking up in hot sweats %26 makes extremely hot days more enjoyable :) please know that plug is a 3 prong for outlet. I bought a safe 2 prong plug adapter %26 connected on a wall where only A.C. is connected for safety %26 to prevent power outages but that is up to your discretion. Overall I highly recommend this A.C. unit. Great purchase!

Works great for our room. Easy to follow instructions for easy installation. The only downside is the inside mounting brackets, they don’t hook onto the ac well, and when you tighten the brackets down the hooks on the ac bend.

I purchased 2 of these in 2 years and both have failed. They are cheap for a reason, they aren't worth much. The first one worked about 6 months, it didn't work well but it worked well enough not to uninstall it and return it. Then because of the low price I thought I'd try again, it just seemed the odds were in my favor, I already had one dude I was bound to get a good one this time, but no. I have a Imdea 5k btu in my living room and this is it's 4th year of use and it works perfectly. I don't think the odds are in your favor if you buy this of getting a good working air conditioner.

I wanted a simple, compact AC for a small bedroom, and the GE 5000 BTU seemed like a good choice. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t cool the space effectively. Even running it for hours, the room still feels warm and stuffy. I tested it in a 100–120 sq ft space (well within its range), but the temperature barely drops. It feels more like a fan than an air conditioner. No, it doesn’t makes noise — which I actually like (white noise helps me sleep). I enjoy the hum and the sound of a unit kicking on and off; it usually means the compressor is doing its job. But that’s the problem: this thing never kicks on. It runs constantly like a fan, but the air stays lukewarm at best. It never actually feels like it’s cooling the room. If you’re standing right in front of it, maybe. But across the room? Nothing Controls are bare-bones and cheap, no remote, no digital display, no way to tell what temperature it’s even targeting. It feels like GE just threw this together to hit a price point, not to solve anyone’s actual heat problem. All in all, this unit might work as a temporary solution or in very mild climates I expected more from a brand like GE. Wouldn’t recommend unless you only need very minimal cooling.

If I could give a zero star and a review I could, this AC is awful, and I tried to exchange. App told me I was good and had a time frame to return to the store. Store wouldn’t accept and I was denied my return. I just wanted to exchange but here I am with an AC that pushes hot air around

JUNK. Didn't last 3 months used it for a bedroom walked in yesterday and noticed it wasn't running had a technician check it out the ac compressor had burn up already. Like how it only run during the night and can't get any replacement or refund wish I would have bought the warranty

I was hopeful when buying this unit figuring it’s a GE and should work good but boy was I wrong. This unit does not blow cold or is able to get the tiniest room cold. I definitely will be taking out of the window and bringing back to the store they definitely don’t make air conditioners like they used to
