It works. I used it. The gap is no longer a gap. I applied a small amount. It became a larger amount. It expands with confidence and very little regard for my intentions. Once it starts, you are just… observing. The area is sealed. Permanently. Probably. Ease of use: very easy to apply. Less easy to stop. Not designed to be negotiated with. I have not personally been a wall cavity, so I can't fully speak to that experience. But based on results, it seems final. Would use again. More cautiously. Maybe.
This foam works like a charm. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. And it's sold under the GE brand - quality from back in the day. I applied it at the very lowest temperature threshold and it still worked exactly as designed. It's a great value for the price and I would highly recommend it. This won't be my last purchase of this. And I am glad that I got the two-pack.
The first time I bought one of these I used about a half a can and threw the rest out because the nozzle was clogged and cleaning it was impossible. This time I decided to look and see if they had replacement nozzles. Sure enough I found a 10 pack and now I can use this can over and over just by disposing of the nozzles.
I used the GE Big Gaps %26 Cracks Insulating Foam to seal some large openings around pipes and along my foundation, and it worked exactly as I hoped. The foam expands a lot, so a little goes a long way—definitely don't overapply. Once it cures, it becomes very solid and does a great job blocking drafts, moisture, and even pests. The application was straightforward with the included straw, though I'd recommend wearing gloves because it sticks to everything. It fills irregular gaps really well, especially areas that would be hard to seal with traditional caulk. One thing to keep in mind is that it expands quite aggressively, so it's best suited for bigger gaps rather than small cracks. After curing, I trimmed the excess easily with a utility knife for a clean finish. Overall, it's a strong, reliable product that delivers on insulation and sealing. Great value for the price if you need to tackle larger gaps around the house.
I think they changed something with the packaging or something??? Usually, spray foam is a one time use. Ive used it a lot over the years and just came to terms with it. Because if you try to save it in any form or fashion , it's dried up and hard by next time no matter what. THIS 1 didnt do that this time! i used the 1/4 can i needed, threw it away but the next day saw a small spot that needed it too.... i pulled it from the trash 24hrs or so later, with nothing but 1% hope itd work, and was shocked when it did! it did seem to take longer to dry than it used to but otherwise worked as expected in both spaces.
This is a great product. But, the straw it comes with is one time use. I had a Christmas project with this stuff. Sticks great. Because of the straw I was not wearing gloves. Many doses of acetone later on my fingers to direct the flow, it all had to wear off in about a week.
This spray foam insulation is a very good quality product. It does what is expected-it fills large gaps. The can doesn't have a heck of a lot in it. You may want to buy an extra can in case. Overall, its a very good product for the price! I would buy again, just more of it!
I have used this many times on diy projects. I thought I was going to need it to fill in gaps when I changed out my door jamb, fortunately I didn't and returned it. Every can I have ever used has been so messy and if you don't use it all in one application, you're lucky if it doesn't clog up to where it has to be thrown away.
Product could not hold its own weight when spraying overhead. Not tacky enough I guess. It got two stars because if you are spraying into a cavity with a bottom to it, it will fill the void. I used the small gap formula with good results using it overhead. It did not sag at all. I think the big gap formula is not getting enough air into the mix. Something would not allow photos of the defect to be posted.
I received 2 single cans instead of the 2 pack that I ordered and was charged for twp 2 pack prices
