Best big box bike period.

BearsExpedition December 7, 2025

Package had been though the ringer. Box had been taped up, all staples were loose. I had to true both wheels. It's definitely the nicest bike in Walmart. The frame geometry is spot on, it feels great. You don't feel like you are on top of it, like other 29ers. Brakes are excellent out of the box ,really short stopping distance and great feel. Shifts flawlessly and smoothly. Much better than the advent 9 speed.

Great geometry, hydraulics, and a 140mm travel fork w a cassette. Awesome. Don't do Trek Marlin. waste of money

Great entry level bike, straight out of the box.

Jason September 25, 2022

Background on myself, I was an avid Mountain Biker back a number of years ago and wanted to get back into it. I was getting sticker shock at the prices of decent new bikes. I was a review of this bike on youtube and figured I'd give it a shot. The bike came packed perfectly and minimal assembly required. After unpacking and assembly I took it out of a shake down ride, thinking I might have to make adjustments. No adjustments were required. The hydraulic breaks did not squeak or make any noises at all, function was perfect. The microshift drivetrain functioned perfectly with no required adjustment. One thing of note for potential purchasers. I am right at 5'6" and this bike is almost a bit too big for me. I knew this going in and it works for me, but would recommend a smaller bike for shorter riders, or if you prefer a smaller frame bike. This is a far cry from the "Huffy" Wal-mart bikes of old. This will compete head to head with any "bike shop" entry level bike any day of the week!

Quite possibly the best bang for your buck

Chris July 31, 2022

I've had the bike for about a week and after putting approx. 100 miles on it, I couldn't be more pleased. It rivals most entry-level LBS bikes below $1000. I had mine assembled and checked out by my LBS and the techs couldn't believe it came from Walmart. The only issue they found was the star nut in the fork was installed incorrectly. This could've been disastrous so if you're not well-versed in working on bikes, I would strongly recommend having it assembled by a professional before hitting the trails. Also, it is quite heavy (approximately 36lbs). The fork itself is almost 7.5lbs though so if you swap it out with something <4.5lbs and convert to tubeless you can easily it get down to around 30lbs.

Best Walmart bike if you can afford it.

ChrisB May 29, 2023

The Giordano Intrepid is a super nice bike and was easy to put together. Didn't need much adjustment out of the box. Shifts smoothly and has excellent range between the ten speeds. Hubs are excellent and roll incredibly smoothly. Suntour fork has long travel, a lockout, and is sufficient for most riding. Locking grips are decent, but I'd recommend upgrading pedals at a minimum. Frame looks very high end but paint is easily chipped. CST PATROL tires have great grip.

Best bang for the buck

AKS July 17, 2022

Well, before you buy you should probably check out KevCentral's review on youtube. The bike is absolutely wonderful for a novice. I have a bit of trail riding behind my belt and this is plenty of bike for someone who's either a begginer or an intermediate. Plenty of gear for fast descends and steep climbs. Yes, the hubs are not branded Novatec as pictured, but I reached out to Kent (bike manufacturer) and it seems like the hubs on the bike are manufactured by the same company. The brakes feel pretty good, though for some odd reason front brake was on the left side (typically it should be on the right) so I just swapped the lines around and it's perfect now! Tires grip really nicely. I'd highly recommend.

No center mark on handle bars

Miguel October 25, 2024

Great bike, only bad this was the handle bars don't have an indicator on the center, so you have to eyeball it when you install it on the steam. That's why I'm giving it a 4 star instead of 5.

decent value bike

MD May 10, 2023

Had few issues. Arrived with a warped front rotor. And the crank arm had a huge scrape from where the front wheel was placed during shipping. Customer support was extremely helpful. The front calipers comes unattached and the rear caliper needs to be adjusted before riding. The shifter will also need to be adjusted. From the factory, there's a small delay in changing gears. It's mostly there, but needs a minor tune. Rear wheel is a little more to the right side of the stays so going to a wider rear tire will be a challenge.

Disappointed with the drive train

Gabriel February 23, 2026

I purchased the bike as a starter bike to get into mountain biking. Everything worked on the bike as expected except the shifting. Messed with it for days to try and dial it in and could not get it to shift correctly for the life of me. Finally got frustrated and took it to my local bike shop for them to tell me that the reason it doesn't shift correctly is because it has mediocre parts. If that's the case, then why does my kids huffy shift better than this bike. I purchased the bike in August of 2025 for over $700 just to see that Walmart put out a much better bike, the Ozark ridge plus for under $600, with much better components. Disappointed to say the least.

You get what you pay for.

Bike shipped timely. It looks and feels larger than the size I ordered. Quality is okay. Chain pin broke first ride.
