We were invited to a potluck barbecue next door, and I brought some boneless pork chops that I had rubbed down with this. I did it as soon as I woke up, and the barbecue began at 11a. I let the chops sit out of the fridge for about 20-30 min and then handed them over to the grillmaster of the day. The rub created this incredible smelling crust on the meat! They were beautiful when they came off the grill and tasted better than any barbecue sauce I had used before. My kids asked for more, but I had only brought about 10 chops. I used McCormick's Honey Hickory rub on grilled chicken breasts and thighs, as well as with grilled shrimp. With the shrimp, I applied it right before grilling, but with chicken, I found the smoky-sweet taste came out better when I added the rub first thing in the morning and let it marinate a few hours before grilling. Finally got to fire up the grill and try this Honey Hickory rub and I LOVE it! It's sweet and smoky and slightly umami. Put it on chicken and was great. I think it would also be great on pork too. Highly recommended adding this to your spice portfolio.

Tangy, smokey, sits on the tongue well. Reminiscent of eating BBQ chips as a kid on a nice day outside. I've used this on eggs, pork chops, chicken, and I plan to try this with many other uses. It's good by itself and a smooth flavor enhancer if you mix it with other seasonings as well. As a rub, it does make the meat smoke more when cooking, grilling, baking; however, that also just adds another layer of smoked goodness to your bite. It doesn't leave the food feeling sticky or overpowered. I personally wouldn't mind tasting the honey more as it felt more of a mild middle subtle flavor to tie everything together. This pairs wonderfully with a lemon pepper or other citrus flavor to add a pinch more citrus and freshness.

I tried this rub on pork and chicken. I really enjoyed it on the pork specifically. I love to layer the flavors on my spare ribs so that's what I did. I did a layer of salt and pepper then a layer of the honey hickory rub. It had a nice Smokey sweet flavor which really surprised me. Great rub for ribs! I would recommend this to anyone!

My family enjoyed the McCormick Grill Mates Honey Hickory Rub on our grilled chicken this weekend. Using the grill mates made for quick prep work without needing to pull out many different spices. The spice coated and stuck to the chicken well and had a great flavor. I may add a bit more garlic or salt next time but we'll definitely use this again. We also added some to our roasted potatoes and it complimented the chicken nicely.

I liked the flavor but still needed to add salt/pepper to give it some more depth. My kids liked it plain (they're younger and don't like a lot of complex flavor). I'll continue to use it for my kids meals but I need to experiment more with other seasonings to make it more robust.

I was gifted this product in exchange for a review by McCormick. The taste is there, it blends into the meat well. It smells amazing, a bit more garlicky than advertised which I prefer, I plan to use it in Asian inspired dishes. It's a new spice mix for me, I usually use more savoury-peppery blends. The one thing I was disappointed in though, despite the ingredients being pretty good, it uses bio engineered ingredients.
