We're so impressed with this coffeemaker because this REALLY makes an incredibly delicious pot of coffee using the cheapest generic brand of ground coffee sold at our supermarket, using 1/2 scoop less coffee than we used to use in our old brand of coffeemaker, on the BOLD setting! I tried perking a sample of expensive ground coffee that came at Christmas time last year, no difference in taste whatsoever! Omg, we are so astounded by how delicious this coffee is! Even our 38 year old permanently disabled son who never liked to drink coffee before is a coffee drinker, and our 15 year old granddaughter who we're raising loves this coffee too, she adds it to her instant cappuccino mix for the most delicious mug of cappuccino ever she says, and she's right!!! Yummy!!! The downside is that the markings for the water level are almost impossible to read but that's an easy fix using a black permanent marker and a ruler! We always make 12 cups of coffee at a time no matter how many people will be drinking it! The clock is very easy to set, the buttons to turn on this coffeemaker and to program it for waking up to a perfect pot of hot freshly perked coffee ate the perfect size for those of us born with large fingers! And the cost of this Hamilton Beach 12 cup Programmable Coffeemaker is about the same as a generic brand 12 cup drip coffeemaker at a dollar store that doesn't work as well or work at all! (This is our own experience!) The real reason I bought this Hamilton Beach coffeemaker is because it's a surprise for my “coffeeholic” husband when he is finally discharged from having to spend about 2 weeks in the hospital, 7 days in ICU, because of a few very serious potentially fatal newly diagnosed lung disorders, having to drink the hospital's terrible tasting coffee he told me. I can hardly wait for him to taste the coffee from this coffeemaker! What a homecoming this is going to be for him!
This model offers a delightful coffee experience with a convenient feature set that allows you to schedule your brew times. Its compact size and minimal footprint make it an ideal choice for kitchen counters, and the cord storage prevents any entanglements with other appliances.
Well it does brew coffee. I like the design, and it works as designed and expected. However, programming is very hard to see. It needs to light up or have bigger letters. The numbers are big enough, the small print isn't. My only other complaint is my fault. I ordered white. When you lift the lid, there is coffee splattered everywhere. I have to wipe the inside down every day. The white really enhances the mess. I liked it better when I had a black coffee maker, I couldn't see the mess LOL
The coffee maker does what is advertised. It makes a good cup of coffee ( as long as you use good coffee to begin with) They need to tweak it a bit, so the pot lines up better with the brew basket. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles which makes it easier to use.
I gave it a three because there is a design issue between the filter basket and lid on the pot. Neither line up making it easy to overfill the lid on the pot. I can use it but I would not leave the room while it is brewing. It looks good and makes good coffee.
We used this coffee maker for 1 week and the lid split/cracked, so am taking this back to Walmart. We cannot figure out why, though it split along a plastic piece attached to the underside of the lid which moves the water sprayer back in place when you shut the lid--I think that was a stress point on the plastic lid. We didn't push or press down on it at all. I wiped off the top with my dish rag, which I did nearly every day for over 5 years on our old, also plastic, coffee maker. Also, comments about the readout being hard to see are 100% accurate--it needs to light up as it's nearly impossible to read. So disappointed. It's hard to find a white coffee maker that will fit under our cabinet that costs less than $100. Using instant coffee again until I can find another coffee maker.
this is the worst coffee maker ive ever seen.
Used for about 10 months, almost every morning. Worked very well until it suddenly started pour water from the bottom. I opened up the bottom unit, and the back water container is connected to the heating element with latex surgical tubing, and the heat from the elements dried it out and cracked it. Absolutely horrible design, and a huge fire hazard, as the water leaked right into the front electrical part while it was plugged in. Lucky I was watching it, and immediately unplugged it. This needs to be metal, not latex tubing. This product won't last very long, save your money and buy a better quality unit. Unit was also very noisy when it was about 95% brewed (made steam and popping noises)
It worked fine when we first got it but after only a couple of weeks it's starting to over steam and drip the coffee very slowly I don't really know how to explain it but it's what my last coffee pot did just before it died. I'm probably going to return it. Disappointing because I liked the features on it it was easy to use.
Everything about this item sounded and looked great, on paper. Unfortunately, the item did not perform as described. I found it to be not user friendly at all. I had to fiddle with the basket in order to get it to fit right. There was no indication as to how it had to fit in order to work properly. The function light did not light up. I had to get a flashlight in order to use that feature. The water failed to drip properly through the coffee grounds and spilled around the basket chamber and down around the pot. It made a huge mess. I returned for refund.
