Hamilton Beach 40 Cup Coffee Urn and Dispenser, Silver, 40514R

I wasn,t sure this pot would keep coffee when NOT pluged in which is what I needed. It does a beautiful job even when we,re serving below freezing temperatures.

This coffee pot is just what we needed for our group. We didn't have much money to spend so we got this Hamilton Beach 40-cup instead of the Hamilton Beach 42 cup. The 42 cup brewer was $10.00 more. What a deal for the 40-cup pot. We only make 30 cups at a time. Also, I like the fact that you can see how much coffee is left, then I know if I'm making too much, since I'm not there during clean up.

Bought this on sale the first chance I got because it sells out fast every season.Makes more than enough for you and holiday guests.Water alone heats up fast for tea and instant cocoa.Coffee percolates hot and delicious, instructions say to take out the stem and basket after brewing so coffee stays hot but won't get bitter from over steeping.Use oven mitts because steam is hot, people.One thing I think matters is enough clearance between the coffee dispenser and the cups you choose.Small cups let you sit the urn in the middle of a table, big cups need for the urn to be at table's edge.In saying that last part,if you have to put the urn toward the edge the table should be wide and sturdy so that someone who has a heavy hand on the lever can't tip the urn over.Outside of that it's great.

Great coffee maker and the size is perfect. Even if after brewing you unplug the coffee maker, the coffee stays hot in the container for a very long time. Only note is that to get 40-cups of coffee it would be a 6 oz size cup and not 10 oz cup of coffee.

This is a super little coffee pot. It brews 40 cups in 30 minutes and is easy to carry and use. It is relatively quiet and has a nice appearance, The 2 way dispensing handle works well so that you can use styrofoam or ceramic cups. Many other brands only have the dispenser that you must push to cup up to the pot to dispense coffee, That doesn't work well with styrofoam cups. I am considering buying another unit so that I can alternate pots at meetings.

It takes about 20 mins to make, other than that the coffee is really HOT and it tastes great!

I actually bought this item to keep hot chocolate hot. I made it and got it super hot then put it in this pot, we took it out to give to the homeless in about 35 degree weather. We were out there for about 1.5 hours and the chocolate stayed hot till the last cup.

Used this...worked great. Only problem is that its hard to clean...small nooks and crannies.

I purchased this for use by my small church. A 12 cup was too small and a 60 cup was too large so a 40 cup was a decent compromise. It does a standard job of brewing a decent cup of coffee, however, unlike one claim of a 20 minute brew time, it took a full 30 minutes to brew a 20 cup pot from cold water to green light. Unlike what the instructions say, the brew light is not red, it is blue. Minor detail. Ready light is green. Blue to brew, green to go. That's okay. I do not like the lid. The rim is poorly designed. It is a bit difficult to set the lid on the pot and twist to lock. The lid does not have a natural tendency to align itself as the rim is too small. A slightly larger rim that helped the lid self align would be very nice. As it is, it's a bit frustrating to get the lid in place and lock it. That is also a minor thing but it could be improved. I believe this urn will give several years of good service but it is just you average coffee urn.
