We purchased this because my daughter and son-in-law owned one and bragged about how well it worked. We have hard boiled large and small batches and every time the eggs were perfectly cooked. Also, used the egg poacher and this worked great as well. The only reservation I have is you would not want to use extra large eggs in the poaching tray since they would overfill the egg well. Also, when using the egg poacher, be sure to spray the tray liberally with spray oil so the eggs don't stick. After a couple weeks of rigorous use, I would highly recommend.
I have been wanting a hard boiled egg cooker for a while and this was a good price and I like Hamilton Beach products. This makes making eggs so much easier than on the stove and the eggs have been way more easy to peel than normal, also you dont have to poke the eggs on a needle to break the shell like all the other egg cookers make you do. Only negative is that it seems very cheaply built and lightweight, but that is ok if it still lasts for a long time.
Love it! 18 minutes for hardboiled eggs. Haven't used the poached part yet. With 18 minutes for hardboiled I didn't have to refill the water reservoir.
Seriously, I have no idea how I got along without this before. The boiled eggs peel perfectly and are cooked to perfection. The poached eggs are really nice as well. The only drawback is tha tyou can't do more than 7 eggs at a time.
Choose this egg cooker because it has both the hard boiled and poached inserts. It works great. You just have to be sure you are within listening distance for the timer. And since the time is so short this really isn't a big issue!
PRICE GOOD AS ALWAYS AT WAL MART...... WORKS GREAT MAKES HARD BOILED EGGS REALLY FAST AND I HAVE MADE THREE BATCHES OF 7 EGGS AND HAS WORKED PERFECT.... WHAT MORE CAN I SAY...... BUY IT YOU WILL LOVE IT
I love this egg cooker. I use it everyday to cook my boiled eggs for breakfast. It's fast and easy with no worries of water boiling over. I love that it buzzes when the eggs are done.
Overall it's a great appliance, gets the work done with minimal fuss. Holding back a star because it doesn't automatically turn off after the cooking cycle is over.
Love this new cooker, works great. The only problem I with the cooker is that the end that pokes the egg shell is not a pin but a wider piece of the plastic. I used a pin and it worked great!
The water measure cup is a joke. It's not humanly possible to read the markings, and the amount of water used determines how long the eggs are cooked. Therefore, inconsistent results. What makes it worse is that nowhere in the packaging or booklet does it give you the tablespoon/teaspoon equivalent so you cannot use another method to measure. And for some strange reason, whenever I poke a hole in the top of the egg(which is supposed to prevent cracking) , the whites bubble out and forms egg-white "spider webs" throughout the interior so it takes more time to clean up after use. I found that if don't poke the hole in the top the eggs don't crack anyway. Years ago I had another egg cooker that had the water markings clearly marked on the base where you pour the water, so no need to use another measure cup. I'm going to see if I can find that one again, doesn't matter if I have to pay more. I bought this to be quick and consistent, and its not.
