The no grow Nyjer Seed attracted many finches to our yard. No Grow doesn't reseed in the yard which we like.

I have three feeders and I keep them full and there's times where I see 16 benches out there. it's amazing they love the seed

I have been using this product ever since I decided I want to encourage house finches to my balcony, and to that end, I am very satisfied. There is an issue from the manufacturer on this which I intend to take up with Happy Wings, in that their 4 lb bag (product manufacturer-labelled "Net Weight4 lb (1.81kg)" indicates there will be 4 pounds, i.e., 64 ounces dry weight in the package. I have a scale: I do check these things. The package now weighs in at 63.0 ounces (3.937± pounds [1.786kg] gross weight, NOT net weight. It is not yet time for me to open the package, so I cannot determine the actual net weight ([weight of the seed packaging]-weight of the packaging=net weight). If I can amend I will, but I am deo contacting Happy Wings once I know the full discrepancy. I routinely check the weight reported by products sold according to their weight. Last year, the bag was sold according to the weight shown on the package, 4 pounds (1.81kg, and/or 64.0 ounces). The cost of the bag has risen from $15.18 last year, to 17.98 this year, an increase of 18.4%. I am assuming the increase in the cost, as well as the shorting of the bag, is all down to the manufacturer, not the seller. The thing that bugs me is not so much the inflationary price--thanks "Freedom day" tariffs, I'm so happy your big beautiful bills are costing me more to live while I've had no increase, full stop, in income--but that the bag is shorted. Am only posting images from the one scale I use (I have a few), but across them all, the bag is *exactly* 63 ounces, which indicates this is an intentional shift in manufacturing by the manufacturer, not merely an accident. For the record, consumers might be surprised at how reliable the weight and volume measures on packaging in the US is. This is down to real maths of weight, figured in shipping, so it's somewhat necessary and would be more of a pain to misrepresent, never mind possible fines, law suits, etc. The US is very litigious. Ultimately, Happy Wings No Grow Nyjer, I have found, is seed that reliably draws wee house finches. This year I also had at least one sparrow pair for a while, which is happy for me. Wee song birds are welcome. I don't want the big "bully " birds--cardinals, mocking birds, robins, and blue jays--visiting my balcony as they bully the wee finches AND they poop all over everything. House finches visit the feeding station, consume, and I am blessed with two boys, who also sing their lovely wee song to mark territory: none of them poo where they eat. (Cardinals are especially bad for pooing where they eat). The actual seed is fresh and fine. The problem, this year, is Happy Wings are shorting their bags. The 2026 cost, before state sales tax, is ~29 cents /ounce. 2025 cost, ~24 cents an ounce, so a total increase of >20.8%, the sum total of raising the price and shorting the bag. I'd still have bought the bag if it had truly been 4 pounds, proper, sold for 18.50. Dishonesty in weights is bad acting.

none of my outside birds word eat it. i even mixed it into regular birdseed. i have mixed it into the squirrels food.
