Havahart Large 1-Door Animal Trap

Good heavy construction. Easy to set and release. Better fit for animals such as ground hogs that are too large for smaller, less expensive traps. Walmart.com supplier has best price for this particular model. This model is to find in stock at area big box farm supply stores.

Trap was easy to set up and bait, caught the skunk my first night using it. Pressure plate is not difficult to set and didn't snap during placement of the trap.

Had to replace my old Havahart trap (using it for over 30 years) as it accidentally got crushed. Wanted another one just as dependable. If placed and baited correctly it will catch whatever is curious enough to stick it's nose inside. Ground hogs, cats, and even a skunk or two!

This trap came as described in the picture. It was not the "NEW" version that does not have the loop spring on the door. This trap snaps shut and stays closed preventing the animals to escape. The "NEW" version is not as good as this version. The spring is not as strong.

LARGER HUMANE ANIMAL TRAP AND I ALREADY HAVE SMALLER ONES BUT THERE WAS A BIG FERAL CAT AND IT WAS SO FAST, IT GOT OUT OF MY TRAP ONCE THE TRAP WAS SPRUNG. I HAD PUT A LONG PIECE OF CARDBOARD ALONG THE INSIDE AND THAT MOST LIKELY SET IT OFF. HOWEVER, EVEN IF I PUT THE FOOD WAY IN THE BACK (FRESH TUNA FISH), EVERY TIME, THE SUPER NINJA STEALTHY AREA 51 SHAPE SHIFTING CAT WAS ABLE TO SNEAK IN, EAT THE FOOD, AND LEAVE WITHOUT SETTING THE TRAP OFF. I LIVE HERE IN LAS VEGAS AND WE HAVE A SEVERE FERAL CAT PROBLEM AND THERE WERE AT LEAST 12 DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF THEM AND THIS ONE IS THE LARGEST AND MOST CLEVER ONE YET. I WILL CALL THE COMPANY AND ASK FOR SUGGESTIONS.

I bought this trap to catch squirrels that are taking over our property. But then, I had not figured on what to do with the squirrels once I had caught them. I hate killing them. Other than fussing at them while I had them in the cage, I let someone else do the dirty work. There too, you can't just shoot into the cage. I also wanted to catch stray cats that are coming around at night, Terrorizing my small cat. They are easy to deal with. Load them up and take them to the shelter. The trap works very well. It's effective without a doubt. This one is large enough to catch a small dog, raccoon, Possum, Wood Rat and other interesting things. I'm probably enjoying it too much.

The directions are poorly written and there an insufficient amount of diagrams to illustrate the directions. For some reason the handle isnt connected to the cage and if you pull to hard it comes off. But my main dislike is that I couldnt find a way to keep it from tripping the door down while trying to accustom the animal to going into the cage. Then, once I was ready to transport the animal, the locking device isnt strong enough to keep the door locked in place and the animal escaped And as a former English teacher, why cant I get the apostrophes to show up?

i usually always like this brand cage..BUT , I , got a defective cage delivered to me...the door trap frame was missing completely....i have to now return this one and order another one, in the meantime , the armadillo is still tearing up my yard while i wait for another cage !!!!!

Poorly made. Trap put together incorrectly as there was a 1/2" gap at one end. Ends of mesh grid (each long metal bar) pertruded at each end of trap and was sharp as knives. Every single one! Injury to animal or human very possible. I called Havahart and customer service was useless and unhelpful. Returning item and DO NOT RECOMMEND! I will never buy a Havahart product again.

Trip mechanism and latch did not work. I had one similar years ago, not the same brand and it worked perfectly but had to get rid of it when moving for space. I had to return this one because it really is defective. Won't buy another one from here.
